“Great for nostalgic purposes; otherwise not best choice”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

This hotel has a polar bear! It's been there for years and at one time the facility was amazing. Rooms surround the pool and it just feels like the hotel that got stuck in time. I was happy to see it again but sadly I can't say much else that's positive. The room I was assigned was so damp, the towels felt wet and the towel rack was broken. It also felt 'buggy' and I wore my flip flops in the room. I slept well - the pillows were a delight. Breakfast was ok. Despite the signs saying, 'Please eat in your room..." it was a big space to eat. Apparently the place is overrun on weekends with teenagers so they hand out wrist bands to use the pool and get breakfast.
Odd experience.

“What a dump!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

It had been five years since I had stayed at this hotel, it used to be a Holiday Inn, and it used to be nice. Now, it is so dumpy….the rooms are dirty and drab. I even had a black bug in my room, which one of the managers said was a beetle. Hm. I am not sure if I buy that or not. The common areas is really dark and hot – we tried to played cards by the pool while the kids played in the pool but we could only last one round and then we had to leave, we were sweating to death. The soda machine did not give change (how convenient). And, when I had first called to make, and then later, change my reservation, the girl who answered the phone (Amber) would not let me freaking finish a sentence – she kept talking over me the entire time. I have no idea where they found their janitorial staff or front desk help, but, they need some help. There were two gals at the front desk (I do not have their names) who very nice and very helpful, but, that was it. All-in-all, it made for a bad vacation and I do not plan to stay there ever again. BTW, I wrote to Ramada about this place because they should be aware that their name that is getting dragged through the mud. And, they wrote me a very nice reply. And then I received an e-mail from one of the managers at the hotel, who made a point of mentioning that they are putting in a pool slide of some sort and that it will be the largest in the area. Who freaking cares about a slide----upgrade the rooms! DUH!

“what a shame that this hotel doesnt want to get better”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2011

first- i wish i had gone to trip advisor but i was looking for an inexpensive place to stay while visiting family

second- learn customer service- it should not matter if your geusts book direct or online- deal with change. I wanted to change my beddiing and 2 people gave me their rehearsed line which was - sorry you need to deal with expedia. we cant do anything

third- I cannot believe I didnt move to another hotel because the best word I can use to describe this experience is sketchy

BUT - i do have one positive comment- breakfast was decent to good

“Incompetent Staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2011

Incompetent staff, couldn't understand or resolve a simple booking discrepancy with Orbitz. Making matters worse is that nobody on night staff is empowered to make any decisions.

“I was better off sleeping in my car”

I think everyone needs to know that this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. All we wanted was a nice hotel to stay at when we visited with family and I am very, very disappointed with this hotel. When we were making reservations we were repeatedly told we needed to make reservations online and they would fix the reservation after it was made because the triple A discount would not work and the buy two nights get the third free would not configure in to the price and after we did that they told us they have no control over their website and they would not fix anything. The room we were first given was not handicap accessible when we clearly stated that we had a child in a wheelchair and at first they were trying to make us carry the chair up the stairs. They may have several handicap parking spots but there is no ramp to get the wheelchair up. we could not go swimming because the front pool was not handicap accessible and the back pool had a lock on the handicap ramp to the pool and we were told that they did not want to remove it even though the stairs to the pool was open, and they started telling us different ways we could get the wheelchair down stairs into the pool area. The maid left the trash from the day before in the middle of the room. this place is suppose to be smoke free and all throughout the place and in our room it smell heavily of smoke and the handicap child we had with us had troubles with breathing as a result of this. the outside of the hotel was unkeept and ragged looking. All the front desk people were very snooty to us and not very willing to help us with our troubles as stated above. they had a few good reviews and no place to comment on this hotel. people need to know that this hotel is not good for even a simple stay and especially for anybody that is handicap. the only good thing about this hotel is they sometimes had this nice lady doing the breakfast.
