It was clean, but the bed was very uncomfortable. we had a hard time sleeping. also the sheets kept coming off. the continential breakfast included corn flakes, milk, oatmeal, coffee, apple juice, hot chocolate, english muffins, and honey buns. we brought a dvd player to hook up to the tv, but we were told that the manager had the universal locked up and we would have to wait till the next day to use it. we went down the next day and she was really reluctant to let us use it to program the tv. she said people have stole it in the past and that it was very expensive. i happen to know that remote only cost $10 not $100 like she said. she gave it to us then 5 min. later sent the maid to retrieve it. she treated us like thiefs.

I was apprehensive about choosing this hotel, but location was very important for our plans. My wife used to clean hotel rooms, and is particularly careful about where she likes to stay. This was a fine motel for what we needed--a place to crash for 8 hours. The breakfast was marginal, but fine. The staff, especially Anita, was VERY accomodating to change my reservation from Priceline's 1-SMOKING reservation to 2 double beds NON-SMOKING...even though I overheard it was a "full house" for that night. They also provided a crib for my 19-mo old, and was pleasant at every encounter. A side note...stay away from Priceline's "name your own price." You are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to getting the type of room you want.

The rooms are basic, but spotlessly clean. Everything works the way it's supposed to. Don't expect a lot of choices at the continental breakfast, but the coffee's strong and donuts are fresh. The staff is attentive, friendly and thoughtful. When I left a book there the housekeeping person called to see if she should mail it back to me or donate it to local library. Skip the restaurant next door or across the street and head into Mendota itself (1-2 miles west) for decent Mexican, Chinese or family style restaurants.

We were traveling through Illinois and felt the need for a nap. Pulled into Mendota at about 9 pm. Front staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean other than a few things we found on the floor under the bed when we went to clean up the kids toys in the morning.

Continental Breakfast was not up when we went down at 7:00 am and it was supposed to be up from 6:00 am - 1:00 am.


Over all if you are looking for a place for a nap, not a bad place.
