Just wanted to update on the conditions of this hotel. We were there Easter weekend. It is still very clean, beds are good, nice management (dang I should remember the guy's name). Of course no pool (like the other hotel down the street) but half the price.

We were just there on Friday and Saturday night (October 2nd & 3rd). As soon as we walked in the little lobby, the manager (he is not the owner-I asked) welcomed me and said "I know you". He was helpful in helping us find this one town that we were looking at. We had a one bed on the lower level (I got to choose). I think they updated the pillows because they aren't flat anymore. I did open the window one night since it was kind of warm in the room and didn't think the air would run much since it was cool outside. Anyway didn't notice until the next day that the screen had a big gap and that spider that was sitting there could have got in. I closed the window for the next night. It was pretty quiet except of course when people started getting up in the morning and walking on the upper floor above our room. Everything seemed clean to me. The rest of the information can be found on my other posts. This hotel is only one of two in the town and is half the price.

Only problem was pillows; too small so we asked for two more but they were busy late at night and forgot to bring them. Otherwise an okay place. Third time we stayed there in last five years.

There were silver fish in the bathroom; no clock; lights not working; no coffee maker; breakfast was very inadequate; very small dining area for number of rooms; it was just an overall bad experience. We have relatives in McHenry and afterwards we learned that they never recommend anyone stay there. I complained to Super 8 Corporate because they had given it a "Pride of Super 8" rating and received the comment that they had no control over it the property. The property manager didn't even reply to my letter stating the poor conditions of the hotel.

We have been very cautious at staying in Super 8's after that experience.

I did not know of this method to let others know the quality of service and cleanliness of a property before now so I realize my review is a little late.
