I have to say I was very pleased with my stay at the Hampton. Actually I was a Choice Diamond member who usually stayed at the Comfort Suites but during this stop I had a bad experience with no one being at the desk to reserve some rooms so I decided to come to the Hampton which turned out to be a much better stay. I was greeted immediately, they apologized for their neighbor and was glad to sell me two rooms at a discount for my inconvenience. They offered to sign me up for Hilton Honors program, called my room to make sure everything was okay.
All in All and very nice stay and I will defiantely plan on staying there the next time we come in.

I stayed here two different times during a week-long period. The front desk staff was very friendly. Rooms were comfortable - free WIFI seemed to work better here than in other hotels I have stayed this year. Breakfast - above average fare for similar hotel types. They have an indoor pool that I did not use and they have a small exercise room. On my first visit, the exercise room did not have any sanitizer wipes for the equipment. I mentioned this on my first check out and they were there by my second stay. My only surprise was the cost ... while being a nice place to stay, it was (with taxes AND a AAA discount) close to $110 - a little more than I am used to paying in small town Illinois (and I live in such a town).

Food choices - you are a two minute walk from a Steak and Shake and another family style restaurant and you are a 3-4 minute drive to a Cracker Barrel and a Buffalo Wild Wings. There is also a Super Walmart nearby as well as a gas station. If you need to attend an event at EIU, this is a nice place to stay that is only 15 minutes from campus.

When we arrived late at 1:15AM, the desk clerk was very courteous and quick checking us in and telling us not to miss the Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast from 6AM-10AM. Our room smelled and looked clean, bathroom was immaculate and temperature was perfect. Beds were clean, fresh and comfortable with extra clean blanket available in the room's closet. Ample fresh towels, hair dryer, shampoo & conditioner, soaps and newspaper at the door, if requested. We stayed 3.5 days. First day breakfast was biscuits/gravy, pastries, milk, juices, cocoa, coffees, cereals, etc. Second day was mini cheese omlettes with crisp bacon and all the fixings. Buffet staff was courteous and anxious to please. Dining area was clean and comfortable. Hotel is at the end of a service road, with a big outside parking area so no traffic noises at all. Internet access in the main hallway off dining area. We didn't use indoor pool, but it looked immaculate. Nothing missing or broken in our room and air conditioner and coffee maker worked fine. Our check-out was a breeze. Manager and desk clerk were very kind and courteous. Every staff member we met (including cleaning staff) asked us if there was anything at all they could do for us. Good value and a pleasure.

We have stayed often in this Hampton Inn and have found the service to be especially great. During our many visits over the years the entire staff has always been courteous and friendly in their dealings with guests. The property is well maintained and the rooms are clean.
