I am a very laid back person, and I usually stay in really cheap motels. I’ve even stayed in a motel where they were doing construction down the hall, and a motel where the heat wasn’t working, but I have never once complained about one until now.
I have stayed in this motel twice, and the first time wasn’t too bad, but after this last time I will not be going back again.
The rooms aren’t very clean and there are stains on the walls. When I asked the employee at the desk for a rollaway bed, he told me the only ones they had available all had “pee crystals” on them.
The kinds of guests who stay in this motel are all either college students who stay up all night talking (this is one of the cheapest and closest motels to EIU), or people who need to sleep all night and wake up at 5 am (even on Saturday mornings) and constantly complain about the noises. This results in everyone in the motel hating each other and a very unpleasant environment. The walls are also so thin that you can hear everyone’s phones ringing and alarm clocks going off in the mornings.
My final complaint is about the general manager of this motel. She checked me out of my room in the morning and was probably the most unpleasant part of my one-night stay. If you have any small complaints or questions (such as, “Can I please have my receipt?”), she will completely blow them out of proportion and make a big dramatic fuss. She was extremely rude to me and very unprofessional.
This motel would be fine for a person who just needed somewhere to crash in the morning or during the day, but if you plan on being in your motel room at night between 10 pm and 5 am, it would definitely be a better deal if you stayed at one of the motels down the street even if they cost more.
