I am from about 4 hours north of Mattoon but my husband is from the area so we got married down there. We went to all the other hotels in Mattoon, looked at a room in each and found that the Comfort Suites was the best in the area. Not exactly what I'm used to being from Chicago but just fine for what I needed. Every room has a mini fridge and microwave.

My family and I checked in for my big wedding weekend Thursday afternoon but my jacuzzi suite was not ready (fixing broken jets). It was ready by early evening so I just kept my dress and other stuff in my parent's room. The staff was nice and as each guest checked in, they gave them our welcome bag of goodies.

The pool was small, but nice and our rooms were clean. Not perfect but for Mattoon was really good. The continental breakfast was typical and there was plenty of food.

To be honest, the night of my wedding our family and friends were quite rowdy and obnoxious (the sign of a good wedding I'd say). After they reprimanded my group, they behaved themselves and it was fine. I was not around so I don't know what happened but they took a complaint seriously.

I am used to having a shuttle provided by a hotel for guests to use to and from the wedding but there was none. We called over to Eastern Illinois and used the Panther Express to cart our intoxicated guests. Worked great!

So if anyone plans a wedding in the Mattoon area, I would certainly recommend Comfort Suites as it's the best around. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

This hotel is o.k. , my first room was terrible. In the bathroom shower was a dirty washcloth hanging and a used bar of soap. All signs of a not clean bathroom . The bathroom door was broke and would not close. Extra linens were waded up in the closet, to me signs of not clean linens. Called front desk, there was nothing they could do , there is no housekeeping on duty till next day. There were able to get me a smaller room. They had no extra linens for the sofa sleeper in that room , had to get pillows from previous room.
The pool was dirty!!!!!!!! the water was very cloudy with some dead bugs. Took 15 minutes to get clean towels in pool area.
Breakfast was good.
Alot of problems for the price you pay . Way to under staffed. There is 1 person there at night to run everything.

I stay in Mattoon very frequently (more than once per week) and have stayed in various hotels. This one is the best in the area. The desk clerks are seriously the best I have encountered in my travels anywhere. They are very
helpful; the hotel is clean and in good repair.
