“TERRIBLE: ECONOLODGE ROOMS HILTON PRICES”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

The worst service and most overpriced room I ever been to. I paid $119 for a double that looked like a cheap motel 6 or econolodge type room that you would pay $45 bucks for. The manager was unprofessional and talked to customers with an attitude. The hotel hosted a New years eve comedy event that sold way to many tickets to accomodate everyone who paid for it. And the mananger didnt bother to help anyone who complained. They didnt bother to even clean the lobby the following day. There was burgers and beer bottles in the elevator. I was even charged a deposit fee for paying with a credit card that was charged after i got my bill and checked out. They should bulldoze that place immediately!!!!

“Awful! is not to strong a word to describe Holiday Inn Matteson, Illinois”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

Awful!! Room were dirty, reservations were screwed up....services was shoddy, if available at all. Manager was unavailable constantly. So understaffed that the front desk often didnt even answer the phone! Bartender cursed and swore like a sailor. No room service on Sunday. Breakfast unavailable..as kitchen cook was apparently late showing up to work...awful!!!

Had family reunion there..many elderly relatives stuck there..I would of moved immediately, if it didnt mean abandoning my elderly relatives to that hotel of horrors.

Worn and stained carpets and couches..one guest complained of no shower curtain.. I wanted a rack to hold my luggage..rather than putting my luggage on the stained carpet....was told none was available.

Worst of all..I later complained to their corporate offices...tryed to reach the office of Holday Inn CEO...Andrew (something or other).....no response at all...

This is a disgusting and very poorly managed hotel..they should replace staff from top to bottom... I will never, ever stay in a Holiday Inn again..and will recommend my family and friends never stay in a Holiday Inn.

This is a sad state of affairs and commentary on a once strong and venerable American hotel chain.

“Worth forfeiting a week of prepayment thru Priceline”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2010

Stay away at all cost. Every negative review is correct. I received a special price thru priceline by bid of 55.00 per night for a supposed 3 star hotel. Priceline needs to change the way they conduct business, as their ratings are way off in many cases. My room had human excretion smeared on the wall, mold and mildew in btn tilework in bathroom and smelled of heavy cigarette smoke. Their were teenagers running up and down the halls all night and it was in a very scetchy area of town, surprised my vehicle was not broken into. This hotel was disqusting, outdated and the lack of concern/care and customer service were in line for what you'd expect to see once you see your room. The elevators look like a blind person painted them with nail polish, and gum was stuck all over the bricks by the elevator lobby. I complained immediately, but was only offered an upgrade if i were willing to pay an additional 125.00 per night. What? I checked out after first night and stayed at a Quality Inn which seemed 100 percent nicer than this dump, oh yeah and the same price...what happened to holiday inn?

“One night is about all I could take.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

I won it on Priceline, which I think is a great way to try hotels because many of them can be such a disappointment. This would be one of those disappointments, although, I really wasn't expecting much to begin with. I've never stayed at a Holiday Inn and this one definitely didn't make a great first impression. If I had actually paid full-price, I would be a little ticked off. The first thing was that Priority Club members apparently don't get any perks here even though the website states that you do, apparently you have to pay for those extras at this hotel when many other hotels give them away freely to members. No biggie, I can buy my own breakfast. The second thing wrong is the TV, again not a deal breaker but if I needed to stay longer than one night, this wouldn't make the cut. Most channels are fuzzy, my kids are teens so Nick & ESPN being the only clear channels doesn't make for a peaceful experience. The furnishings are fine, nothing to write home about but nothing obviously wrong either.
The tile in the bathroom shower area is old and the grout needs a good cleaning. I hate to see moldy dirty grout, makes my shower feel dirty but maybe that's just me. Turning the shower on isn't really smooth, there's sort of a trick to it. It's enough of a problem where my 17 year old couldn't figure it out and I had to turn it on for her. One of the light's is out in the bathroom. There were 4 cups provided but only 2 towels which we used last night.
SO, here's the dealbreaker - the service. I requested 4 towels at 8AM. At 9:15, I received one bath towel and 2 hand towels and was told they didn't have anymore large towels and he would be back. Still no more towels at 10:30 and some of us haven't showered yet. Check out is at noon. They ran out of clean towels? So, wash some please. The towels smell like cigarette smoke anyway. The bedding is a bit lumpy, no bedbugs from what I can tell but not exactly a dreamy place to put your feet up.
Overall, the staff is very pleasant but I'm still not impressed. My home is being renovated so I'm really just here for a clean, hot shower and bed. (OK, the shower is really nice and hot once you get a towel and overlook the other things.) Since, that's all I came for, I guess that would make this a FAIL?! But, I guess it's close enough, I just would not return especially at full price. If you're traveling through, I think there are better options across the street.
As I was writing this, towels finally arrived at 10:45. Well, there goes that nice long shower I had planned. Everything I mentioned is just a small annoyance but it's that attention to detail that can stand between being a very pleasant stay and a not so pleasant one.
