A wonderful stopping point for tired travelers. Nice, modern, clean hotel with courtiest staff.

We have stayed at this hotel twice recently (August 2011 and September 2011) as our son attends SIU in Carbondale. It was a very pleasant stay both times. Hotel rooms, lobby, and pool area are very clean and welcoming. The staff are friendly, professional and accommodating. Hotel location is ideal and near several restaurants. Two very good restaurants near the hotel include 17th Street Barbecue and the Asian Bistro. Overall a great place to stay and we will return to this property when visiting the area again.

We stayed there twice passing through on our way from MN to AL. We chose that hotel for our trip south and it was so nice that we booked it again for our trip back North. Clean, nicely appointed, good location near the highway but not noisy. Plenty of food to choose from in the area -- altho avoid the Applebee's next door - we were certainly not impressed with the staff or food, but I digress. The Fairfield was great - comfy and perfect for our needs. We were a bit concerned when we got the room next to the elevator on our return trip but we didn't hear a thing .. all around great place to stay.

I stayed in this hotel on business based on previous reviews on this site. It was a very pleasant stay. The happy hour in the evening is a nice touch. The rooms were typical Fairfield by Marriot quality and very clean. I didn't have much interaction with the staff but the ones I met were very friendly. There is a good barbeque restaurant within walking distance next to the hotel.
