The front desk people were kind and informative when we checked in and out. The wireless internet did not work. Their website had Continental Breakfast offered but when we inquired were told that it was too wasteful and had been cancelled for quite awhile. The rooms had strong smell of bleach/chlorine but at least they were clean.

We just returned from a stay at Chicago's Lombard-Oak Brook Homestead Studio Suites and were extremely dissatisfied with the property. Initially the hotel looked like a nice place to stay, having a decent experior. When we entered our room, it was outfitted like a budget $6.00 motel. Most noteworthy was the musty and stale odor in the room. it was awful and the clerk related there were no more rooms. A nice amenity was the free local phone calls. DON'T BE FOOLED!!!! When we checked out, we found that we were charged $3.00 for calling a resuatrant that was just a block or less away. It seemed like a bait & switch, with the clerk relating that the call wasn't on the list they kept of acceptable local calls. Of course we didn't have access to the list. Then the clerk was rude. We paid very little for this room, but should have paid more to have a more pleasant stay elsewhere. Don't waste your time here. In our many & frequent travels for business and leisure, this was the lowest rating we have given a hotel.

We love the Homestead and Extended Stay hotels. They are great for families traveling on a budget but this one was horrible. The shower curtain was dirty and had mold on it. Everything was just not cleaned all of the way. The bedspread was stained from top to bottom and had a huge burn hole though it was a non-smoking room. Do not stay at this Homestead but also do not avoid this hotel chain! Most are really great!

I went looking for an inexpensive hotel and was placed by Hotwire in this "2.5 star" property. When asked by Hotwire post-stay to offer my star rating, I gave it 1 star. You would tend to think a 2.5 star hotel would offer you something more than just a room. I knew before arriving that the hotel does housekeeping once a week instead of every day. That wasn't a problem for me, but the condition of the room suggested that might be a bad policy. The bathroom smelled the way a public restroom might. The bed was cheap, hard and uncomfortable, and the blanket had short hairs and crusty stains on it. Hotel's location is okay, close to shops and restaurants. It might be a bit too out of the way, since two men and a woman (none of them hotel guests) found it to be the perfect spot to stop off in the parking lot and get into a fight at 12:30 in the morning. When I came down to check out, there was no clerk at the front desk... instead, there was a sign directing guests to summon the clerk from wherever they were on the house phone in the lobby. At least when I checked in and the clerk wasn't at the front desk, they were nearby and didn't act like they were wasting their time with me. Don't bother booking here at full price, and don't be tempted by that cheap 2.5 star Oak Brook/Downers Grove offering on Hotwire either.
