“This place has bugs!”

This was the nastiest bed and breakfast we have ever visited. There are plants all over the room that dropped dead leaves on us when we were in bed and the room was cluttered with the owner's business paperwork including some personal health insurance information about his clients. The bathroom appeared not to have been cleaned and even the dishes at the breakfast table were dirty. Breakfast included dried out cheese on dirty plates that never seemed to leave the dining table. The day after we departed, I developed a lot of red welts that I thought were hives but turned out to be *bedbug* bites. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Thank goodness we did not bring the bugs home with us.

“One of our strangest B&B stays ever”

We stayed for two nights in June 2004. The host is a very interesting man -- he's travelled all over the world, has collected many interesting artifacts, and tells good stories -- but his home needs a lot of work to be a good B&B stay, both for maintenance (the ceiling was cracked in places, with small bits of plaster falling down) and cleaning (musty smell, dirty floors).

The rooms were comfortable but not special, and the continental breakfast (bagels, fruit, juice & coffee) was okay.

Our overall experience was poor. We were glad to have a place to stay in a nice neighborhood in Chicago but would not go back or recommend it to our friends.
