The first night of our stay our toilet nearly overflowed with only 3 sections of toilet paper in it, and we had to call the front desk to have it plunged. The lady from the front desk came up and used the plunger and then dripped toilet water on the floor, not once saying she would send housekeeping up to clean and disinfect the floor. So, I wiped the floor.
Our non-smoking room was on the 3rd floor, which also had smoking rooms on it. The smoke smell was so bad we had to place towels at the base of the door to try to keep the smell out, but to no avail. We requested that we be moved to the completely non-smoking 2nd floor, and they accommodated us. We moved our luggage into the room and immediately left for the day, not checking the bathroom or anything else in the room. When we walked into the room that night, we smelled a distinct odor and soon found out the source. Either a maid or the previous tenants had used the toilet and evidence of their movement was left behind. My husband flushed the stool only to have it rise to the top and stop up. We called the front desk AGAIN, and the same lady came up and plunged the stool for us. Once again, she did not say anything about sending housekeeping up to clean the bathroom. At this time, we expressed our displeasure and stated that we were Holiday Inn Priority Club Members and that this had been the worst experience we have had with HIE. She said she would let the manager know. Not one time did the manager contact us, and we were there for 2 more nights, so he had ample opportunity to do so.
The thought that the toilet was not cleaned thoroughly is disgusting with all the sickness and disease that is out there. There is no excuse for that kind of service, or lack thereof. We will not stay at the Lincoln Holiday Inn Express until we know that changes have been made either in management or staff.
