We needed to stay on the south side of Chicago due to travel schedule. We were unsure of the area but trusted the recent positive reviews on Trip Advisor. It looked safe enough upon a Sat. afternoon arrival--more industrial with other hotels nearby. It's actually quite isolated and empty at night. Upon returning at 11:30 p.m., a car pulled up in a nearby parking stall with two middle-aged white guys asked for "gas money." Since they were between us and the hotel entrance, we took a spin and called the police. Upon returning, we saw a couple of cars with young black men cruising the area, but no one bothered us again. We probably would've been fine if we'd not been out late. New, comfortable mattresses, though bathroom was worn. Staff members were courteous and helpful. We'd be inclined to stay again if not for our late-night encounter.
