“Inside okay but outside something else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2010

My wife and I stayed here one night, March 7, 2010, which was a Sunday night. The room was adequate though small. No exercise room but that's okay. Nothing fancy but the price is right. Outside the hotel was atrocious. Cigarette butts all over the place along with garbage of every type. Broken beer bottle as well. Was only 2 or 3 cars in the parking lot if that tells you anything (of course was a Sunday night). As a traveler who logs 50-70 hotel nights per year this was a pretty depressing place to stay. I will not stay here again. To many alternative choices.

“Was a very good place”

Myself, my wife, and my 9 years old son went to Sleep Inn hotel in Lake Bluff,Illinois for five nights in Sep 10th. We drove 22 hours from Coral Springs, Florida. Our visit was for my older son Navy boot camp graduation.
The front desk agent checked us in at 11:00 am. in room 207, the Manager kindly ordered a small refrigerator to be in my room. The room was very clean, bathroom so clean. Rooms are a little bit small, but good for 2 guests. Location was 1.5 mile from the boot camp. Breakfast was so nice. I had a problem with the A/C in my room. I called the front desk, and very kindly they change the hall unit in no time, perfect response. Hotel is safe and a very helpful employees. Sleep Inn will be my hotel to stay anytime i will visit this area. Special thanks to Amy at the front desk, also the Manager, I remember his name was Andy, and the maintenance man, sorry i don't remember his name.
Thank again for a very good job. I recommend the Sleep Inn Hotel, and don't even try to read the bad reviews.

“Overcharged and misquoted”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2009

I came up in mid-August to see my husband graduate from Great Lakes, and booked my entire trip online. With my military discount, I was supposed to be charged 71.99 a night, and 64.99 for sunday night. I even have the receipt from my online transaction that says just that, as well as the total price after tax. After I got there, The first two days were alright, except that I went down to request another pillow to elevate my knee, as I have problems with it, and elevation works good on it, and was told that I couldn't get another one, however, I could get another blanket. Makes no sense to me. I'm paying this much money, I should get another friggin pillow. There wasn't a whole lot of people staying here, so I don't see what the problem was. On monday morning, the last day of my trip, I used their downstairs internet connection to check my bank account and found that they overcharged me and ignored my military rate. The first gentleman quickly fixed it, but after reviewing the reciept he gave me, I found they also charged me for a safe I did not use, and I was being charged 75.99 a night plus tax, which brought it to 79.99 a night for all four nights. The second person I spoke to about this said that this was the military rate, when online, at their website, I was told it was different. A word of advice to this hotel: Get your prices right. I was told that I was going to pay a certain price and that is what I expect to pay. I'm on a tight budget, and an extra $20 is going to hurt a little. It's not really so much about the extra $20 charge, but that it was different than what I was told weeks in advance what I was going to pay. That's false advertisement.

Other things that bothered me: I was told our room would have HBO, and it didn't. Burn holes in blankets and furniture, the light nearest to the window flickered for about a minute after being turned completely off. The light near the sink, the switch was busted. I had to replace my key card several times for the same room, for who knows what reason. Just really annoying when the cab service we just used screwed us and we come back to this.

I am considering staying at the nearby Red Carpet Inn on my next visit, they're cheaper, and their rooms look a lot more cozy. We'll see.

“Clean, friendly, great price and location can't be beat!”

My son graduated from the Navy and we flew up to Chicago. Just by chance, I happened to find this great hotel. They welcomed us warmly at midnight, the next day we had an awesome breakfast. We were in and out during the weekend because there were so many activities. The Gurnee Mall is very near, we drove into Chicago and the kids went to Six Flags. We printed 2 for 1 tickets off of their computer in the lobby. The staff gave us recommendations and answered my endless questions. They even have a shuttle for graduation morning so you don't have to sit in the long lines to park on base. Rooms were very clean and its nestled next to a beautiful wooded area. Love it!

“Sanctuary in a busy place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2009

This place was nice. We were comfortable everywhere at this location. Parking lot, lobby, room, breakfast. The room was great. Internet userfriendly. My only advice is that if you have someone that cannot take a shower in your party call ahead and ask if they have rooms with a tub. We met my son who is staying at Great Lakes here and he felt comfortable. It is tucked away behind a McDonald's and convenience store. Very quiet atmosphere. I chose this hotel after reading reviews of the others in this location. It is easy to get around town from this hotel. You must eat at The Full Moon diner across the street.
