I came up in mid-August to see my husband graduate from Great Lakes, and booked my entire trip online. With my military discount, I was supposed to be charged 71.99 a night, and 64.99 for sunday night. I even have the receipt from my online transaction that says just that, as well as the total price after tax. After I got there, The first two days were alright, except that I went down to request another pillow to elevate my knee, as I have problems with it, and elevation works good on it, and was told that I couldn't get another one, however, I could get another blanket. Makes no sense to me. I'm paying this much money, I should get another friggin pillow. There wasn't a whole lot of people staying here, so I don't see what the problem was. On monday morning, the last day of my trip, I used their downstairs internet connection to check my bank account and found that they overcharged me and ignored my military rate. The first gentleman quickly fixed it, but after reviewing the reciept he gave me, I found they also charged me for a safe I did not use, and I was being charged 75.99 a night plus tax, which brought it to 79.99 a night for all four nights. The second person I spoke to about this said that this was the military rate, when online, at their website, I was told it was different. A word of advice to this hotel: Get your prices right. I was told that I was going to pay a certain price and that is what I expect to pay. I'm on a tight budget, and an extra $20 is going to hurt a little. It's not really so much about the extra $20 charge, but that it was different than what I was told weeks in advance what I was going to pay. That's false advertisement.
Other things that bothered me: I was told our room would have HBO, and it didn't. Burn holes in blankets and furniture, the light nearest to the window flickered for about a minute after being turned completely off. The light near the sink, the switch was busted. I had to replace my key card several times for the same room, for who knows what reason. Just really annoying when the cab service we just used screwed us and we come back to this.
I am considering staying at the nearby Red Carpet Inn on my next visit, they're cheaper, and their rooms look a lot more cozy. We'll see.
