“Great Quite Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

I was traveling on business, and just needed a place to stay for the night- this place was perfect. The checkin/checkout process was a breeze- the staff was helpful and very, very friendly. The rooms were immaculate. I booked a king room, which came with a micro-fridge, flat screen tv (and not a little one either), and a nice sized desk. The property had free wifi, with pretty good speed too. The rooms seemed to be updated fairly recently, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The best part was how quite the area was- i had no trouble sleeping whatsoever. There was a bob evans right next door (not even 50 ft from my room), which was great too, btw. All in all i was impressed with this hotel, especially considering how inexpensive it was.

Room Tip: I stayed in the superior king room towards the back of the hotel.

Thank you for your thoughts and comments on your stay in Joliet. The televisions have been a big hit since they were installed. Not many hotel chains have flat screen televisions. The Business King room is popular for those guests staying for an extended period of time, using the micro/fridge for ‘leftovers’. The mattresses, in most rooms, were replaced shortly before your stay and the carpet/drapes have been replaced in all rooms. We are continuously working to improve our appearance. We looking forward to having you stay with us again when you are in the area.

“Semen Stains on the bedspread for me, and Fleas for my dog!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

While the rooms are furnished with some nice amenities such as in room coffee makers and large flat screen televisions, I certainly could have done without having to clean the bedspread off of a rather large and quite obvious semen stain..I'd already had to change rooms once because the tv was inoperable in the first room and considering that there was extra towels in the room, I wrapped my hand in one while cleaning with another..pretty gross but I was tired from the road and then relocating self, dog, and our stuff already. The real surprise came the next day when I noticed my shih-tzu was scratching away madly so I took a closer look and he was riddled with fleas and bites! First time he's ever had fleas! Needless to say I won't be staying there ever again and changed from Hartz to Frontline!

Room Tip: Find another hotel..

Dear Guest:

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding our hotel. I am certainly disappointed that your stay was not all that it could have been.

I apologize for the inoperable television – I’m not sure as to why it wasn’t working – was it movie issues, channel complaints, not enough information to make a conclusion of the issue? Now to address the flea issue: we have these rooms regularly serviced and maintained. We also check each of these rooms a minimum of two times a day.

I understand the frustration and disgust finding a bed coverlet dirty upon your arrival. Stains of any kind are not pleasurable to see. We have retrained the staff on the proper cleaning procedures for all linen and room presentation.

Once again, please do accept my apologies and I do hope that you may give Red Roof Inn another opportunity. If you are in the area again, please contact me personally so that I can take care of your next stay.

“Truly Renovated w/ same Excellent Customer Service”

Needed to ck in this WIFI place for a 1 wk to stay connected with my AT&T laptop and phone while helping Mom downscale, declutter and look for a condo in town. Folks day and night were friendly, informed, patient and helped me find services to assist with boxes, storage, library directions , et al. There may be more upscale places to stay here, but the updated rooms, price, cleanness, easy access to 80, and the dedicated staff has kept me coming back for over 5 years. Plus: my nonsmoking room did smell fresh!

“One of the worst Red Roofs... DO NOT STAY HERE”

If your a smoker and do not mind the smell of smoke then this is the place for you. I was a smoker at the time of our stay here and was grossed out by the smell. We got in late at night after a long day of driving. When I called to see if they had rooms I was told they had a non smoking room on the the lower level and they took my reservation. When we got there I was told that the only rooms that where non smoking where on the 2nd floor "makes since right? since smoke and smells rise up". The lady at the desk gave me my card and I went to check out the room on the lower level. It smelled like 40 people just got done smoking a pack in there. I asked for the 2nd floor room knowing it was going to be the same way. The lady gave me my card and it did not work so I went back down to the office and she gave me another card and it did not work as well. After doing this another time we got in our room and it smelled like smoke also what a shock huh.. We stayed there because I was to tired to go anywhere else. I did get my money back from them after I called three times.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms

Dear Guest:

Thank you for expressing your thoughts and concerns about your stay in Joliet. I understand the frustration of smelling a stale smoking room. I have been following up on some recent TripAdvisor reviews and came across yours regarding the rooms that you viewed and stayed in. I apologize for the hassle of moving each time to a room that did not meet your expectations.

Since your stay, the Joliet Red Roof Inn property has gone through some changes. We have a designated smoking area (on the second floor, none the less), we have replaced the carpeting and drapes in all the rooms, and approximately half of the hotel received new mattresses. The previous smoking rooms were treated and freshly painted, and a new room deodorizer/air freshener has been tested to neutralize the strong smoke smell.

We are continuously updating and improving the quality of our rooms for the benefit of the guests and their return stays. I do hope that you may give Red Roof Inn an opportunity to serve you in your frequent travels. Please do not use this experience in Joliet as an overall view of Red Roof Inn, Inc. If you are in the Joliet region, please stop by and view the updated changes and look for me personally.

Heather, GM

“Its get better with each visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

Its been a while since I stayed here so I was surprised. The new check in process as a Redicard member made it quick and easy. I was surprised to walk into a refreshed room. Finally Flat Screen TV's plus in Room Coffee Makers. My room was very clean and appeared to have new carpets as well. This property has come a long way in the past couple of years and it is really one of the best Red Roof Inns there is. Keep it up!!!
Now if I could get you to put the iron and ironing board in the room I would be all set.
