I was really surprised that the Super 8 had rooms the size of a Marriott Courtyard or a Hilton Garden Inn. I guess the real difference is the lack of furniture and a 19" television set. At the price point that I paid (double what a Motel 6 would charge), I thought I would at least have two end tables or a couch in the room. The only thing in there is a small television and a reclining chair. Bed was uncomfortable. Pillows had been through a ringer. All in all, worst sleep in an American hotel that I have had in years. If I didn't have to be in Jerseyville, I wouldn't have stayed.

I stayed in the Super 8 Jerseyville hotel for one night during April 2010 on a business trip. I have stayed in many hotels for business and leisure and have seen the highs and lows. In my opinion, this hotel would probably rank on the low end. The staff was friendly and check-in and check-out were fast. The outside appearance is nice and the property is clean. The interior appeared a little a worn and rough around the edges. The bed pillows were flat and the blanket had holes and was scuffed and worn. The headboard was outdated. The sheets and linens were clean, but the appearance of the blanket left me thinking, should I inspect for bed bugs?

A few positive comments on my room: 1) clean, 2) new shower head, 3) nice flat screen television, and 4) spacious with one full size bed. The hotel offered a continental breakfast which is similar to breakfasts offered at other hotels. However, the stained upholstery on the chairs in the eating area left me disgusted. I debated whether I should sit down or not.

This hotel was selected for me by someone else, and even though it offered convenient access to Jerseyville, I would stay elsewhere next time (probably, Alton, IL in the south). If you normally stay in low-budget hotels, then you probably will find no problems with the Super 8 Jerseyville. If you usually stay at the Hyatt, Holiday Inn Express, Sheraton, etc., then you will be disappointed too. I have not stayed in a Super 8 in over 10 years and I likely will not return for another 10 years. There is just too much competition in the lodging industry and alternative hotels have set a higher standard.

They advertise Free High Speed Internet. However, the free version is only at dial up speeds and is only for two hours. If you need a higher speed or longer than 2 hours, you must pay a fee.

I arrived one hour before the "official" check-in on Thanksgiving day after an 8 hour drive and was warmly greeted and quickly checked-in. This allowed me to freshen up and change before going to a Thanksgiving dinner with friends. My young daughter and I returned late that evening to find the hotel quiet even though the parking lot appeared full with other travelers. Not only was their a main lobby for gathering there was also a small sitting area on the second floor with vending machines that overlookd the main entrance. My daughter wanted to spend some time in the "lounge". Would be a great spot for teenagers to hang out when traveling with parents.
The smell of the toast greeted us as we got off the elevator the next morning. The breakfast was fine to get one started but not stuffed in the morning. Cereal, toast or bagel and chocolate donuts. I would recommend bringing your pillow from home or asking for additional ones upon checking in. My nine year old even commented on the flat pillows. The lobby was busy when I was checking out around 9 the next morning and the clerk seemed a little overwhelmed with guests at the desk and the phone ringing non stop. Maybe an additional clerk would have made my check out experience as pleasant as my check in. Overal my experience was above average and I would both recommend and stay at this hotel again
