“Nasty Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

From the moment we checked in at this property we had concerns. Being from out of town we were not familiar with the location of this property, but now we know that Harvey is not the best part of Chicago. Our room was completely disgusting! Our hair dryer had clumps of long black hair hanging out the back of it. There was dried scum and dirt all over the door frame of the bathroom as well as the front of the vanity and the wall in the bathroom! There was sitting water in the coffee maker. Finger prints and smudges all over the windows, not sure when the last time that was cleaned was. Immediately my husband reported this to the desk agent on duty. Her response was that there isn't anyone from housekeeping on duty and she didn't know how to clean a hair dryer, so there wasn't anything she could do! What? Great customer service! The next day first thing in the morning I went to the front desk to complain and inform them we were checking out, as we were originally staying one more night. She apologized but said that there wasn't anything she could do, and I would have to call the manager when he gets in later. The front desk staff is consistently talking on their personal cell phones too, two different occasions we came to the desk and the desk agent was either outside on the sidewalk or behind the desk talking personal calls on their cell phones! It is clear that this owner/manager doesn't give a hoot how his guests experience!

“Fantastic!”

Top scores to this hotel. Surrounded by shopping centers and restaurants - anything you need is close by. I arrived three hours before check-in time and really didn't expect to be able to get in yet, but the woman at the front desk went out of her way and put me into a clean room in about ten minutes. Towels were not out of the laundry yet so she told me that the would be brought to me later, and in a couple of hours, sure enough, clean towels warm from the dryer were brought to my room.
All the nice touches of a Holiday Inn express were there - lots of extra pillows (soft or firm), great shower head, complimentary breakfast. The room had a mini refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. My room had a king bed and a nice work area (desk and chair, that's all you need.) My PDA picked up the free wireless internet signal with no problem at all.
Excellent experience!

“Nice place to stay”

My husband's family lives in Chicago so we go there often and we always stay at the Holiday Inn Express with our 2 children. It is a nice hotel, the breakfast is wonderful. They do not have any hot tub which is a bummer. The pool area is very small but it is ok it you are only there for a couple of nights. I would not recommend this hotel if you are planning a nice getaway vacation. The hotel is located just right off of the highway. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very clean. I will stay here again with my family in the future.

“Nice accomodations, beds and you'll love the showers!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2007

This is a nice property to stay at for a couple of nights. The beds are very comfortable, and I loved the showers. Didn't particularly care for the "cinnamony-scented" lotion, but overall the room was ok. It had a tv, a microwave and a small refridgerator. It has a very small fitness room on the first floor in the corner with a treadmill, a bike, and one other piece of equipment. You get free continental breakfast: bagels, cereal, juice ,yogurt ( when available), fruit, milk, boiled eggs ( cold), and hot cinnamon rolls.

One complaint I had when I was there: The cinammon rolls are delicious, but I was extremely disappointed when one of the days, they did not have any at all, even though this is something that they advertise. Also, Depending on who is at the desk, they may or may not serve coffee in the evenings, and/or hot chocolate chip cookies. One day I had cookies, and the next day, someone was absent, so no cookies. Internet access is available in the lobby.

The hotel sits on and shares a lot with Sleep Inn and Days Inn.
LOTS of food places including Applebees, Taco Bell, and other places including a grocery store is within a couple miles driving distance from the hotel ( exit off lot and turn right).

I have stayed here a couple of times, and have been pretty satisfied for the most part. I'd recommend it to anyone needing a little better-than-basic accomodations for one or two nights.

It's not in the greatest of areas, but it sits next to the highway.
If you are looking for "swankier" accomodations and a better area, you might try Holiday Inn up in Matteson. It costs more-and no free breakfast.

“Nice hotel. May soon be a Holiday Inn Express”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2005

The hotel is just completing extensive renovations, including new carpeting, new beds and new furniture, and even new tables and chairs in the breakfast area. The building exterior was being repainted the week my wife and I stayed here. Our room with a king size bed and sitting area was a good size and not crowded. Our bathroom also had some recent renovations and was very nice. Everything was very clean.

Breakfast was very sparse, somewhat disappointing, but adequate. It appeared nothing had been replenished after opening, as all of the bread to make toast was gone by the time we got there, and no one ever came into the room to check on things while we had breakfast. The only staff person we saw the morning we were there was the clerk at the front desk and she never came out from behind the desk. There are also very few restaurants near the hotel, but Applebee's about 1/2 mile from the hotel was good.

We were told by one of the staff that the hotel is in the process of changing affiliation to a Holiday Inn Express.

Overall, except for breakfast, we were very pleased with our stay and would stay here again.
