Our one night in the Gurnee, IL Country Inns and Suites was a delightful experience. Situated near the gate of 6 Flags Great America, in the midst of other motels, this motel is probably booked solid during the summer. In December it is empty and reasonably priced.
We checked in early on a Sunday afternoon so that we could watch the Packers game. They were ready for us and we were soon in our room. Since there were only 3 cars in the parking lot we did not hold back in the noisy cheering and laughter. After the victory we donned our suits and descended to the pool area. The pool room was clean and not overly chlorine-ee as many are. Although small, the pool was warm and pleasant. Those terms also describe the hot tub except that it was hotter than most other hotel hot tubs. I despise tepid hot tubs so we were delighted.
The room was perfect. It was clean, sufficiently roomy, comfortable and well appointed. The fridge and micro were in cabinets so we did not notice them until we went looking. Although not a recliner, the easy chair ottoman combo was comfortable. The desk area was large enough to get some work done and the internet was flawless and fast. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom pleasantly serviceable.
The breakfast room was deserted but the food was plenteous and good. In addition to the obligatory waffle machines, they had hot scrambled eggs, potatoes, and sausage patties. The staff gave us our privacy, but were professional and helpful when we needed them.
It is rare that I have nothing negative to say. The only difficulty I had at all was that the heat in the room is regulated by a knob on the AC unit rather than a thermostat on the wall. It is a small matter.
I cannot vouch for this motel in the summer then 6 Flags is open, but they met all of our needs with aplomb.

We stayed 3 times at this location this summer and we never would have come back two other times if Kyle was not there. He was the most caring guy, helping us with anything we needed. A book of information and knowledge made all of our stays great. Not only did we stay but we have told family and friends to stay at the Country Inn and ask for Kyle. He worked on the weekends when we were there. Our windows were down and it was starting to rain, we got a call from him on our phone at Six Flags to tell us our windows were down. My husband rushed over to the hotel to put them up. Having 4 kids in a suite is comfortable. The last two times we stayed we had a roll-away bed and hand written note from Kyle saying if we needed anything during our stay to call him right away. The breakfast girl was very nice and helpful. Eggs were bland but the homemade waffles were excellent. Maids were nice and did a very well job cleaning Customer service was top notch every time. I would tell anyone to go there to stay if going to Six Flags!

We have always like Country Inn and Suites, for their cleanliness and comfortable rooms. Not so much with this one. Definitely in need of some "deep cleaning" Was worth the rate we paid, however, a good scrubbing and moving of some furniture in the process would go a long way. We definitely had some issue going on in our bathroom, as there was a mold issue on the ceiling and walls. Couldnt figure out how hotel personnel could NOT see the problem. As with other reviewers, our room was located next to the mechanical rooms and was very loud. If we had not been running our a/c, I dont think I would have slept at all. Sounded as if we were located just under a major airport. A bit dissappointed with this Country Inn and Suites.

booking a room close to a theme park brings good and bad...
good part is that there are plenty hotels to choose and plenty of places to eat.
now the bad - mostly because customers are only really caring about Great America
got 2 cards to room - one didnt owrk
squeaky springs on both queen - maybe from kids using as trampoline
drain stop ripped out of tub - good sign plumbing has backed up at times
very old style 25 inch tube tv. not good quality picture in digital age.

overall ok clean room. but needs to get a remodel.
