Stayed one night at the Gurnee La Quinta. We generally like staying at LaQuintas and while our stay at this location was ok, there were a few detractors. First all the good. Location is great, right off the Hwy and close to Six Flags. Many restaurants, both national chain and a few local places. Check in was quick and staff at the front desk was friendly. Assigned room 101, first floor King Bed. Room was at the end of hall and was fairly quiet. Room was generally in good condition and clean, minus the bathroom which we will get to. We didn't spend much time in the room the first day, though we did stop by the pool which was warm and appeared clean. So overall, things were in line with past La Quinta stays. There were a few things that did detract from the stay. First was the bathroom, it had been cleaned but there were some glaring spots that needed attention that were pretty gross. We didn't notice these until we went to shower in the morning, but there was nasty mildew/mold all over the shower head as well as on the hand rail in the shower. In addition the bathroom vent was covered in dust as well as the wall area around it. So that was a little gross but we were getting ready to head out of the hotel at this point anyway as we were leaving town. Finally the included breakfast had the standard waffle maker, juice/coffee, bagels/cereal, some fruit and little danishes. What was missing was any of the hot food. No eggs, sausages, bacon or biscuits, which are the items that make the La Quinta breakfast stand-out against other hotels. So overall not a terrible stay as the price was reasonable, but a little below the standards we have seen at other La Quintas.

We have stayed here before and have never been disappointed. The room is clean, with a great shower. Front desk help is very informative and helpful. Hot tub is a perfect tempature and very relaxing. Breakfast is more of a continental breakfast - but it's free so you can't complain.

We stayed only one night for a local conference, but were quite pleased with the hotel. Every staff member we met was very friendly. The towels and bed linens were very nice and the room was clean. I found my bed a bit saggy, and the room smelled just a bit of mildew, but otherwise it was a good, if basic, place to stay. The hotel does have a very slow elevator... but as there are only four floors it's not a big deal. My friend tried out the whirlpool and pronounced it good. Breakfast was excellently stocked right up to the end of the period and the staff in charge kept things constantly tidied.

The room size is on the small side. However, you can't complain when you compare the room rate of same area. It is a steal and the location is very convenient. A lot of restaurants nearby within walking distance. The Six Flag Amusement Park is around the corner and you can leave your car at the hotel and walk there. Thus save you parking fee at the Park. Although the room is small size, it is equipped with microwave and a mini fridge. It is a good choice for families with a budget. It offers the most competitive room rates when you compare with other hotels in the same area. The breakfast is basic. It is 4 min. by car from the Gurnee Mills Outlet.
