“Everything old is new again.......kinda”

Recently refurbished. Good Location. Actually rather pleased, rooms were well appointed and clean, Breakfast was great...the front desk staff helpful and pleasant. Room soundproofing lacking. (When the lady in the adjacent room broke wind it raised the sheets on my bed). The elevators were sloooowww...the service at dinner and at the bar was even worse - so bad that I left the building and drove over to Jolene's Cafe in the adjacent Mall. (which was GOOD, btw!) Wireless internet at no charge and ok if not especially zippy. All in all great for Priceline @ $80/nite. Do NOT pay more!

Room Tip: DO NOT GET A ROOM ON FLOOR 2 <breakfast bar> and try to get room on non -freeway side unless y...

“Outstanding Value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

I managed to get a $56 night here (room only) - I have no clue how!!!!! Huge parking area. Reception area large and well decorated. Glass walled lifts that look into the atrium as it ascends (and descends obviously!). Room turned out to be a two-room king suite with a view of the Chicago skyline in the distance. Admittedly the bedroom area was not the largest but there was the seating area so who needs to sit on the bed.
There is a sports bar and restaurant off the lobby serving great food (and with the very entertaining barman who does a number of tricks!!) at not-too-bad prices. Drive to the airport (O'Hare) in around 15 minutes (early morning - probably longer as the day goes on).
Would I stay again? In a heartbeat - yes!

Room Tip: Shop around for a great deal - I found one!!

“Quiet Stays for North & Northwest Chicago Visitors”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Finding an reasonably priced and quiet hotel are not easy to find in this area. There are few decent places in that Chicago area but their rates keep climbing. Consequently over the years I have had to drive farther away into the suburbs to find a place that had those qualities and are within my fixed retirement income budget. The Wyndham Glenview Suites fits my needs, with the following caveat. Rates are cheapest on weekends and holidays but it is best to buy well ahead of time to get them. This hotel was originally an Executive Suite, then a Doubletree Hotel, with an outer living room and inner bedroom which helps to buffer your sleeping chamber. Wyndham hasn't really changed anything in the hotel: same room furnishings but the staff cutbacks are noticeable especially at the front desk. Checking in and out at peak times is inconvenient.

Room Tip: Stay on the east side of the hotel to get away from the busy Interstate traffic that is on the west...

“I hope the scary elevator has been fixed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The first encounter at a hotel, checking in, is pretty much one of the most important first impressions that should go smoothly- this did not. There was a line to check in- as in we were the 5th couple standing there waiting to be checked in. I didn't blame the man at the counter because he was the only one around despite the fact that it was during the peak check-in time so I'm not sure why he was deserted.

There was also a wedding going on in the atrium that is right on the center floor of the hotel. While it's pretty- it's kinda hard to walk around when you're trying to be dead quiet during someone's vows. I also felt bad for anyone trying to take a nap because of the ceremonial music being played.

The worst part of our trip? The elevator. We were on the top floor and I assure you that I truly was scared for my safety. The elevator made a grinding noise and would stop for a moment before continuing upward with an even louder groaning sound. At one point the elevator doors opened on the interior but not the exterior- very scary! The man that was going to get off on that floor just rode up with us and then used the stairs. I followed his lead and used the stairs the rest of the time I was there. While there were a total of 3 elevators it seemed that I always managed to get the unsafe one.

The rooms were clean but very outdated. The cleaning staff was friendly and gave me extra towels when I need them. The pool was warm as was the hot tub but parts of the wall were crumbling. That also goes for the stairwells that had holes in parts of the walls- again I noticed this during my trips up and down because of the sketchy elevator.

I would recommend this hotel as an average experience with an average price tag.

“Front Desk?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

I found everything to be; Very Nice and Clean Rooms, Fine dining ( Great steaks, Roasted Duck) Delicious!
Clean Pool, Hot tub, and spa. nice size banquet room and always seem to have quality snacks and starbuck coffee around. It was close to the airport too.. Make sure you tell the cab driver:" 1400 N Milwakee ave GLENVIEW," not CHICAGO. lol... long story. Would stay again. Note: Front desk staff women always a bit to busy to help much, and dont return phone calls for reservations so book online.

Room Tip: i'd say away from the evevators.
