A very sad state of affairs here. The once luxurious Holiday inn has changed hands
several times since the early 90s when Holiday inn dumped the property. Through the
years of bad choices and a town that lost alot of industry this poor place has ran into complete disrepair. It ran under the Days inn banner for the last couple years of its life having her doors closed forever in 2006. In 2008 The hotel was sold at a tax auction then later to a developer. That same year a straight line wind during a storm sealed the fate when the roof of the holidome was lifted and slammed back down thus breaking all of the glass protecting the internal stucture. In 2010 the black mold and vandals did the rest. October 2010 the wrecking ball started swinging and now all that is left is the old sign a pile of rubble and memories. It amazes me that we as a nation can turn our backs on our childhood for something bigger and better. This was more than a old hotel to me. It was years of memories, family, friends and good times its like the passing of a close friend with each slam of the wreckers ball.
