“Nice Little Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel with a couple of friends to go shopping in Galena. The hotel was pretty nice. They have a indoor/outdoor pool which was really neat to use in the winter. The water was warm inside and out. The rooms were really clean and each room had a balcony. What I really thought was neat about this hotel is they have what I would call fantasy suites. There was a nice man working there on there new room, which is designed to look like a cave. It was soooo neat! He also showed us some of the other rooms which included a Grecian and a room that had a heart shaped bed and whirlpool tub. I would love to come back here with my husband and stay in one of these rooms, they were great. There was also a complimentary brkfst which was ok, and the lobby had cookies and coffee in it all day.

“Nice hotel, but not a very pet friendly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

For those who are taking pets - contact hotel directly. I did my reservation by phone provided on this hotel site, but for some reason reached the BestWestern chain representative. He said it would be Ok to have your dog in a cage for few hours while you go out to ski, and also conformed few other nuances for me with this hotel. When we arrived to the hotel, it appeared they were not agreeing to this. We end up NOT skiing at all because we had to take a dog out of the room with us. Manager or customer service by phone did NOT want to do an exclusion because of their representative mistake, and did not do a refund.

Some hotels do allow dogs in a room in a cage, so we will be booking those hotels next time.

Another thing - 1) our room was right next to the reception area, and at night it is hard for dog to not bark at people who are checking in/out in the hall 2) you can use only one door at the end of the hotel to enter with a dog which is located on the opposite side of the pet-friendly rooms. I did not like that because you need to pass all other people with children and bags while you reach this door 3) also many rooms have balconies on first floor for easier outside access which could be handy if you have a dog, but not in this case, These rooms in the hotel are not dog-friendly. You need to put your clothes on, and go through this special side door of a hotel and then walk back in 4) also no special place outside the building for walking your dog, just parking lot...

Room Tip: In general rooms are spacious, nice mattress, nice housekeeping and breakfast.

“best little hotel ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Jolene at the desk was the most helpful friendly hotel clerk we've ever encountered. We will definitely go back there again and again.

Room Tip: They are in the process of creating fantasy suites.Jolene showed us the two that are finished and we...

“Comfy and clean”

Excellent stay. Comfortable bed, balcony, good breakfast. The staff were exceptionally kind. Had a very relaxing weekend.

Room Tip: The lemonade and free snacks in the afternoon are very refreshing and free.

“Not worth the $, dirty, staff unresponsive, noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

Ended up choosing this hotel when all the B&B's filled up over a long holiday weekend. Paid close to $600 for a whirlpool suite and the jets were noticeably dirty. We didn't even get in the tub but after filling and draining to see if we could clean it up a bit it left a brown residue all over the tub which was disgusting. Our fridge was nice to have in the room but again, it was dirty inside and our coffee pot was wet and had coffee stains. Obviously just dumped but not cleaned from previous guests. We asked the front desk to move us to a new room which they did but THAT room had a dirty toilet. And I'm not being picky here, I can deal w/a lot of stuff but for the $ we paid I at least want the place to be clean. Now the noise....our room was on the first floor about 30 feet from the front desk. About 1am a group of people obviously done drinking for the night show up and literally continue their party in the hall for a 1/2 hour. My wife & I tried the front desk numerous times but they wouldn't pick up and it's IMPOSSIBLE that they didn't hear/see what was going on a few feet away. At least have some concern for the families staying in your establishment and tell the loud guests to keep it down. Oh and another thing, I like coffee and they advertise a 24 hour coffee and tea bar. Don't be fooled, they clean this up early and it's NOT available anytime you want. I asked the front desk when I checked out and they said I have to ask whoever is working to make me a pot. If you're going to advertise make it available! Especially when you can't get the front desk to pick up the phone. All in all it was not a pleasant experience. A lot of $ to pay for old tube TV's, dirty appliances, and an unresponsive staff. Thank goodness Galena itself was such a joy...
