Very clean and a great location. It's about a 5 minute walk to the downtown area so that's really convenient, but because it's not right in town the price is less. The breakfast was just OK. I went with two of my friends and all 3 of us said that all the other B & B's we'd been to had larger, more complicated meals. We had a small fruited jello parfait which was really good, and a piece of homemade sweet bread, then a slice of an egg casserole. When we stayed at Cloran Mansion in Galena we could hardly make it up the stairs the breakfast was so great- eggs cooked to order, pancakes with homemade cherry compote, potatoes, etc. Granted, the #1 reason to stay at a B & B probably isn't the food, but it's just worth noting.

My husband and I took a 5 day driving tour along the Mississippi river and for our first night we stayed here. The home is beautiful and the owners were very nice. After breakfast they told us quite a few interesting facts about their home and the area. This home is located within walking distance from Grant's home and downtown Galena. We would definitely recommend this B&B.

Aldrich House is the best place to stay in Galena! Brian and Fran's beautiful home is comfortable and cozy. They cater to your every need and make you feel most welcome. You can walk to everything there is to see or do or just relax on their charming porch. Breakfast is wonderful with a new gourmet treat every morning. The wine and cheese hour in the evening is a great way to meet the other guests. We will definitely return.

My wife and I were married in this Guest House in 1991 by a Justice of the Peace with the then proprietor as our only witness. We have been back to Galena, but never stayed again at this particular b&b. It was suggested that the Aldrich House might also be a good choice for my wife's annual sister reunion this year and it worked out great. We booked early enough to reserve rooms for four couples and had the treat of staying in the same room as our wedding night 18 years ago.
Fran and Brian were wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were truly gourmet delights and both were very generous in helping us plan our Galena activities. The house is historic (Lincoln, Grant and Mark Twain all stayed here) and it is on a quiet side street within easy walking distance of downtown. The house is immaculate with much attention to detail.
This is a very special place for us, so book early and it may become a special place for you as well.
