I have stayed in a Super8 for $45 a night (scary) and $375 a night on the Columbia river. The home has been amazingly restored by Kathleen and Tom and I simply cannot say enough good things about it. Lovely home (especially considering the condition of the home before they purchased it), FANSTASTIC hostess, garden and gazebo are beyond compare. Kathleen is a wonderful storyteller and all of the guests seemed reluctant to leave this great place. Even the dog is cute. Breakfast was a feast for the eyes as well as delicious. This woman was born to be a B&B hostess. We walked around the town and saw many other B&Bs, some nice, some in bad condition, we got so lucky coming here. The attention to detail in the home as far as decoration is stunning and Kathleen's desire for us to enjoy our stay was nothing short of outstanding. Don't believe me? Read the other reviews.

Went on a girl's getaway to celebrate our 50th birthdays and had a great time at the Abbey's High Street Bed and Breakfast. Tom and Kathleen were very welcoming and treated us like we were family which was so nice. We enjoyed visiting with them in the backyard by the bonfire - so relaxing! The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious! Location is convenient and we were able to walk to the main street for shopping. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely come back!!

After 6 hours on a scooter ride, Galena being our destination, we arrived on High St. to the charming, lovely Abbey's B&B and was welcomed by a hostess who went beyond the call of duty in pampering us. The day only got better as we settled in to our cozy rooms and rested our bodies outdoors on the beautiful grounds in a gazebo that has a fantastic view of Galena. High St. is named for a good reason.

Hostess Kathleen's breakfasts are scrumptious and nutritious. One can always tell when you meet people that just love what they're doing. Tom and Kathleen, my hats off to you.

R&R was what we were looking for and we found heaven!

From the moment we walked through the door, we were welcomed literally with open arms.
Our Hostess, Kathleen, was absolutely charming, with a smile that would light up any room!
She and her husband Tom have renovated, and performed wonders on this great old home. It is beautiful. The yard and gardens are lovely. There is a magnificent view from the charming gazebo which is perched on the corner of the property, which has a commanding overlook of downtown Galena. We took naps there!
Then there is "Queenie", a beautiful Collie who is every bit as welcoming as her masters.
Not a dog person, no problem. Queenie knows her place. She has her own part of the house, and is only allowed to socialize with those who are willing.
The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. It is interesting to see the "before" pictures of some of the rooms. Wow, what a change.
Now, for the second "B", in B&B, breakfast.! I have stayed in more than a few B&B's over the years, but have never been treated to such wonderful, and elegantly prepared breakfasts as the ones Kathleen bestowed upon us. Each one looked like a picture ripped right out of Gourmet Magazine. Kathleen is quite the chef.
My friends and I had ridden our scooters to Galena. Kathleen generously offered to take us on a personally guided tour of some of the more interesting and historic sites of Galena, and did so on her scooter. She really went above and beyond on all levels.
Thanks to her, and the friends we visited in Galena, we had a wonderful time, and hope to return soon! Thank you Kathleen & Tom!
