My finace and I celebrated his belated birthday at Bernadine's Stillman Inn this weekend. We had a fantastic time! We stayed in Room 6 (the first room on the left which used to be the ladies' parlor) and it was even more beautiful than the pictures. I'd definitely recommend this room. We were overwhelmed with Dave's hospitality and genuineness from the moment we arrived. He makes a personal connection with all his guests and knows everyone by name! Also, the location is very ideal as it is steps away from downtown Galena, Grant's home and close to Chestnut Mountain.

My husband surprised me at Christmas with a week-end get away in Galena for this month. I didn't know where he was taking me, so arriving at the Inn was exciting - such a beautiful place! When we walked through the front door I was awed by the 3 story oval staircase. Dave said it is called a "key hole" stairway. With greenery and lights all the way up it is so impressive. Dave said he hoped Bernadine would elect to leave the lights up year round, and we agree. We regret we only got to say hi to Bernadine, but we did have opportunity to visit at length with Dave and their son. Delightful. Our room was wonderful, we loved the fireplace. Dave gave us lots of information about restaurants so we had a great supper. Otto's for a drink and good meal. Also ate at 111 Main. Great scratch food, much of it local. We met 3 other couples staying the weekend at Stillman and we all had a fun time at breakfast. We were all ages, married 3 years, 25 years, 33 years and 48 years! The Stillman is a terrific place to stay, with caring, involved hosts and every amenity you need plus a few you didn't know you needed : ). We will definitely be back!

... Then you would enjoy the truly generous efforts of hosts Dave and Bernadine. I enjoyed many a good conversation between my girlfriend's and my visits to downtown Galena. Located across the street from Grant's home (and one of the best vistas to view Galena) and a period graveyard (suitable for a great Halloween night walk by with a friend), The Stillman Inn is a great place to meet new people and is a source of fond history itself. Comfortable rooms, vegetarian friendly breakfasts, and conveniently located off IL-Rt 20, it was a great place to enjoy our long weekend away from the suburbs of Chicago!

I decided to surprise my husband and take him to the stillman inn for Christmas. We have stayed here a few times before, this would be our 4th. As always was a wonderful stay. We absolutely love it at the stillman! Everything about it is perfect! The house, the food, and of course breakfast...which you get plenty of. The best part of our stay is Dave and. Bernadine. They are the 2 nicest people you will ever meet! They really make your stay amazing. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would stay at any other place! They don't know what they are missing. We have stayed at other b n B's in Galena and none of them come close to the Stillman Inn. We now only stay here. Me and my husband love it so much we decided we will be moving to Galena in a couple years and hopefully will own our own bed n breakfast. In the mean time we will always go back to the stillman inn. We are already booked to stay here in March and are looking forward to it! Thanks Dave and Bernadine for another amazing stay and more great memories. Have a wonderful New Year and see you in March!
