I really can't say enough good things about this place. Point by point-

Perfect location - Just two minutes from downtown, but you'd never know it. No traffic noise from the rooms & two streams on the property which totals 120 acres. It's mostly rugged woodlands but there is a large (~5 acre) park like area right in front of the inn cut off by one of the streams with a hammock & fireplace next to it. We observed coyote, turkey, deer & tons of little rodents while staying there (none actually inside the inn, thankfully).

The inn - Very clean, well appointed & comfortable. Not over the top Victorian or Queen Anne like most B&Bs in the area, but still very homey. Big porch to sit outside and enjoy nature.

The food - Great breakfasts. We had pancakes, an egg souffle, fruit salad, cinnamon rolls, sausages, cherry turnovers & more over the course of our stay. All very tasty.

The service - The couple that owns the inn are very personable and easy to talk to, providing us with whatever we needed throughout our stay. They gave us plenty of time alone, as well. The innkeeper was also very pleasent to be around and we looked forward to spending each morning with her in the dining room.

Overall a great experience and should we ever return to Galena, I will not even have to consult Tripadvisor.

This place is the best of all possibilities, truly just breathtaking. A quick drive from downtown with lots to look at on the way, surrounded by gorgeous untouched nature, and the class & cleanliness of a big city hotel. We spent the day pushing through the swarms of in-town shoppers, so escaping out of the cramped tourist area was a relief. The Pine Hollow Inn is just out of town so as we were pulling into the more rural area of Galena, the sign for the inn showed up on the left. I recognized the house from the pictures and I think we were both amazed by the spotless, tidy house tucked into rugged, wooded ridges on either side. No trash or litter, no ugly cement, no neighbors! Best of all, the place immediately feels like home. Extremely comfortable, solid furniture with a great casual feel. It's perfect!
We can't wait to go back this summer!

This inn is located approximately one mile from the downtown area, but it is definitely rural. The rooms are all reasonably sized, each have private baths and fireplaces. There is a long front porch with chairs and tables. The property is quite large and includes a decent hiking trail where we viewed deer, snakes, and an energetic (but friendly) neighbor dog. The place was pretty quiet the weekend we stayed and breakfasts were quite good. The inn's caretaker was friendly and had some good ideas on what to see around the area.

This wasn't a typical bed and breakfast in that the only common area was the dining room. The owner was friendly enough, but not real engaged. He did not spend much time at the inn. The inn was excrutiatingly hot on one night, but I was able to locate the thermostat in the dining room (in the middle of the night) and bring the temperature down to non-incubator levels. The dining room did not have enough chairs for all the guests to eat at the same time. Fortunately, it didn't become an issue.

Overall, the inn was very pleasant, but a bit over-priced compared to its value.

Looking to get away from it all yet have access to a fun little town like Galena? Look no more, just call The Pine Hollow Inn. The grounds are private, full of tall trees and birds of all kinds, the innkeeper is warm and friendly, and the food -- A+ yummy! Take a walk, read a book, or swing in the hammuck by the stream...this place is a gem!
