I spent 2 nights here while travelling on business. Great location within walking distance to many restaurants and shops in downtown Evanston. Rooms are showing a bit of wear but they were very clean and the property is quiet. The breakfast buffet is a bit pricey but they offer an A 'la carte option which is a nice alternative.

We stayed for one night over 2012 New Years as a place to sleep after a concert in Chicago.
Having stayed in the city of Chicago, we have come to expect tiny rooms at high prices.

Just outside the city and a short subway ride away, the Hilton Garden Inn Evanston is a gem.
Lower price, for more room in a clean hotel with easy parking. What more could you ask for?
Helpful and friendly staff gave us easy directions to the CTA, Dinner, and breakfast outside the hotel. The room had a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Plus a coupon for a free bottle of water and free coffee downstairs at breakfast. We felt comfortable walking around the neighborhood like it was the street we lived on. We will return here in the future.

I stayed 2 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in Evanston while visiting Northwestern University with my son. The hotel is very conveniently located just a few blocks from campus. For $13 a day, the hotel offered parking in an attached garage with unlimited in and out privileges, which we found very helpful. The room on the 4th floor had two very comfortable queen beds with plenty of pillows. The pillows were on the smaller size but since there were so many of them that was not a problem. The bathroom was clean and had nice amenities, about the quality of any reputable 3-star hotel. Although the room faced the main street, it was generally very quiet.

My only problem with this hotel was the business center and wireless service. Wireless internet in the room was very spotty and I often lost the connection. The business center computers simply would not print a document. The man at the computer next to me spent 45 minutes just trying to print a boarding pass. The computer I attempted to use could not open a .pdf document to print (although I was able to view it.) It was clear that the computers were either so old they could not effectively run basic software (I even had problems with Word), or they were both infected with viruses. No excuse for that. However, at the suggestion of the front desk staff, I emailed my document to them & they printed it immediately on their own printers without a problem.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to Evanston visitors. Just don't count on internet access or printing capability of the business center.

The hotel skips the frills of pseudo luxury to provide comfort, convenience, and value. The room was clean and well-equipped and the bed comfortable (though I doubt the gimmicky dial had much to do with it). Breakfast was quick, tasty and reasonably priced. Staff was very helpful and courteous. Overall, an excellent base for a visit to Northwestern U.
