“Room was filthy! Terrible location, too.”

My flight was canceled and I received a voucher from United to stay here. Not only was I surprised that it was actually very far from O'Hare (considering the Ramada incorporates it into their name), there were no conveniences within walking distance other than a Subway restaurant. The lobby/breakfast area was still donning Christmas decorations, despite the fact the holiday season ended 6 months ago. My room was filthy -- my bed linens were threadbare, stained and covered in hair, there was no mattress pad on the bed and the room hadn't been vacuumed (I stepped in someone's old nail clippings). Surprisingly, I had an amazingly fast wi-fi connection. Thanks to reading previous reviews here, I avoided the shuttle service and opted for a $19 flat fee cab back to O'Hare first thing in the morning.

“Horrible Shuttle Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

Our group stayed in 3 rooms at the Ramada in their Park & Fly overnite pkg. Shuttle to the airport was fine, however, upon our return, we waited THREE HOURS for a shuttle to pick us up. We kept calling the hotel front desk and they kept assuring us it was on its way until finally they UNPLUGGED the phone and wouldn't take our calls anymore. We know they did this because when we finally got back to the hotel (after being crammed into a 12 passenger van that already had 9 people in it and we had 6 in our party), 4 of us began calling the front desk again as we waited in line to register our complaint, when I said, "gee isn't that funny....4 of us calling the phone here and it's ringing on our end, but not one line is ringing at the front desk." At which point my boyfriend watched the front desk receptionist plug back in the phone and it immediately began ringing again. Upon speaking with the manager over the course of the next MONTH, to which we continually had to keep calling them back to let them know we were not going to let this rest, she informed us that they feel that the shuttle is a courtesy, and not part of staying at their hotel (which I think is ludicrous when you advertise that you're selling a park & fly package). Their final word, sorry, but it's just too bad for you. So be FOREWARNED. And since I started investigating this hotel, I'm finding more and more people saying the same things (non-existent shuttle service).

“Tired looking rooms but adequate. Shuttle service is a farce.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

I didn't expect luxury at this price-point, so was not surprised the room was very 70's and worn looking. The staff were friendly enough and the bed was fine. The toxic mix for this hotel occurs when they are busy, AND you are trying to get a shuttle back from O'Hare.

The driver showed up at the shuttle center and asked if I had a reservation. I was on the return leg of my trip and was just trying to get to my car. When I said "no", the driver barked at me, "sold out!!", and left without me. The hotel said another shuttle would be there in 25 mins. Over an hour later, and watching all the other hotel shuttles cycle through 2-3 times, no Ramada shuttle. They wouldn't answer the phone because they had a check-in line out the front door. So after a nearly 2 hour wait at the shuttle center I gave up and got a cab.

This hotel provides the basics and I'm not complaining about the accommodation considering the price. But be warned, you may not get back from O'Hare to your car, and this seems to be a common theme in this hotel's reviews. If you want a real shuttle service, you'll need to go elsewhere.

“Watch out for parking rip offs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2011 via mobile

i recently stayed at this hotel and called ahead to ask how much my total bill would be for one room/one night and parking for 2 cars for 10days, I was astounded and pleasantly surprised to hear that it would only be $79. I even asked again for confirmation that I heard right.. So I was disappointed to say the least when I received a $100 charge for the extra car despite having asked twice if that car was incl in overall quote they gave me. On top of this the hotel rudely called my friend at 2am (who was already sleeping in the room) to ask if they could give me a key..though she had already arranged for my arrival early in the evening with the hotel clerk(who was to give me a key). This clerk did not leave a note regarding this for the next employee on duty. This clerk also said that there would be no extra charge for the car. The worst part of all of this is that all that management would say was 'oh, this has happened before' and 'we can't do a thing'. I have never had management say that their hands were tied and offer absolutely NO RESOLUTION. I would not stay here again and would not believe any price quote u receive from them.
