“Fine choice for near O'Hare”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Met expectations, would recommend, would stay again.

Stayed one night in October for a conference held at this hotel. Room keys were ready when I arrived at 9am.

Location: Of the NW corner of O'hare, about 10 minutes by shuttle/taxi/car from the terminal side, in a mixed-use neighborhood of light industrial, office, and shopping, with residential about two blocks away. Shuttle to O'hare runs on a regular schedule (call to confirm).

The public and private areas were showed quite new- all wearables (carpets, linens, etc) were clean, not worn.

We had some meals included in the conference, and the catering department did a great job at both breakfast and lunch- very efficient and the food was good to boot. The attached restaurant had an outstanding bar- exhaustive list of barley beverages, and well-informed and motivated bar staff. I know as much about wine as a I know about the Wiccan religion- it exists, there's a pretty long history, and some people worship it; I did see quite a few different bottles of wine here, so if that's your thing maybe your're luck. Didn't spot any Wiccan symbols though...

All the a/v and room set-up for our conference worked fine, and I the hotel appeared very available and responsive to the needs of our meeting planners.

I peeked at the pool area but didn't do anything more than that.

Wireless access was strong throughout the hotel, even under the strain of our group.

There is the possibility for aircraft noise, with flights to the North of the hotel...

Room Tip: There is some near over-flight, more to the North of the hotel, but check with the desk to make sure...

“Super facility; so-so location”

The hotel property is well-maintained, rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and professional and were willing to accommodate any request. There was ample parking so plenty of space for vehicles - large and small. There was a sports-bar type restaurant attached to the hotel which was quite good for a meal, drinks or late-night snack. (The music is somewhat loud, so if you want to have a business-related meal it may not be the best choice.) There is also a small dining area in the hotel itself which offers breakfast - kind of pricey though: English muffin for $2. They offer two computers with a printer which is convenient if you need to print out boarding passes. They had a very nice indoor pool area with lounge chairs, towels, etc. but the hot tub is permanently closed and covered over. Since the temperature in the pool room and the pool water itself was not very warm, I didn't use this area - nor did I see others using it. Which seemed a shame; maybe they should just close it down in winter. Normally these amenities and service level would get an overall higher rating from me but here's the down-side - this hotel is located in an absolute industrial wasteland. Truly. There is nothing around it other than a couple of gas stations (one with a Starbucks attached) and industrial buildings. Immediately next door is a truck repair shop - with dozens of trucks. Across the street is a large industrial-type FedEx building, and on and on. Really desolate and depressing. It is convenient to O'Hare but still about a 10-15 minute drive. If you want to see the sights of Chicago and are not familiar with the Chicagoland area, this may not be a good choice. If you are familiar, have a car and don't mind driving just to get a meal it may be OK - just be prepared for it. We did find that the attached restaurant served all our needs and the meals were good. We were only there for two nights and since we got this randomly via a discount hotel site at a good price, it was worth it for us. But there are other places on the east side of O'Hare which I would have preferred if I had the choice.

“Best Hotel in Elk Grove Village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

This hotel is by far the best place to stay in Elk Grove Village. I was willing to pay more than I normally would in order to be surrounded by professional service and business travelers.
The rooms are plush with every amenity you could wish for and there is an on site restaurant that is quite convenient. Good shuttle service to the airport and several computers for guest's use.

“Solid full service hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Stayed here for a conference recently. It's a rebranded Holiday Inn meeting the new minimum standards. The job seemed a little rushed - there were some dried "paint drips" on the back of the bathroom door and for some reason the toilet seat was oval shaped for a round bowl. A little odd. There was still some work going on in the public areas.

That said, the hotel had a very good restaurant with some fast food options nearby including a Starbucks and a Panda Express. The fitness room only had a few machines but it did have a TV and was never crowded. The hotel has an enclosed pool too.

The staff is really what makes the hotel - always friendly and helpful from the airport shuttle drivers to housekeeping and the front desk staff. They really did their best at all times throughout the conference.

Bottom line: the hotel is a solid choice for the neighborhood in which it is located.

“Decent no-frills hotel if you need to be in the area anyway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Being a bit of a hotel snob, I expected to be miserable at this hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised. While the furnishings and amenities are completely basic (only one bit of decor on the walls in the room, no conditioner in the bathroom, etc), the rooms are actually quite comfortable and very clean. Good, comfortable bed that does not transfer motion much, and the room was big enough for two people to telecommute without getting in each other's way. Staff was a mix: the fellow who checked us in was really gracious and friendly each time we saw him, but another staff member could only manage surly responses to very basic questions.

The real downsides: location, location, location! There is no public transport in the area (I didn't even see a city bus stop within walking distance) and very little to do if you don't have a car. Without a car, you'll be stuck with either the attached restaurant, Starbucks or Panda Express 3 meals a day. And the hotel is directly in the O'Hare flight path; you do get quite a bit of airplane noise, pretty much constantly. O'Hare's curfew is a bit later than smaller airports', and they get some of the really big birds there (777, 747 etc), so if you're trying to keep an alternate schedule, that could be a big problem.

Wi-fi is free and much faster than the speeds we've gotten at other Chicagoland hotels so kudos for that. However, we had two rooms, and the TV check-out system didn't work in either room, one room's phones speed dial buttons were broken, meaning you had to call the hotel front desk by dialing the entire phone number (then argue with the front desk about not charging you for the call) and the phone in the other room was connected to a dead jack.

The hotel only has one elevator so if you are in a hurry, the stairs might be a better choice for you.

Overall, I was happy with my stay but I wouldn't stay here again unless I were attending the same kind of event where the hotel were already picked for me--- it's too far from the city to make it worth commuting just to get a lower rate, and too far from the airport to be convenient for an early-morning flight. If you're already in the area, though, it's a good solid choice for a no-frills hotel.

Room Tip: First floor rooms don't feel as "secure" to me. If you're on the first floor, ask...
