“Worst hotel experience ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

When our flight from the west coast was delayed by a few hours, we knew we would be stuck in Chicago overnight and booked a room on Priceline right away. After reserving a room at the Extended Stay O' Hare, my fiance called to ensure we could check in late (around 11pm) and we were assured this would be no problem.

When we arrived at the hotel around 10:30, there was a handwritten sign on the door that said "Late arrivals check in at our sister property." No indication of what "sister property" that was or where we should begin to look for it. we dragged our suitcases around the entire building before finding the motel behind it. At that hotel, no one was at the desk. We waited and called out for assistance. Finally a member of the housekeeping staff came to the desk, but spoke no English. After multiple failed efforts, my fiance wrote down his last name and pointed towards the other hotel. She looked through all the papers on the desk. looked forlornly at the computer, but didn't try it, and finally said "Sorry. No." She tried calling the general manager, no answer. Finally she looked into the trash, and there was our reservation, all crumpled up.

After a full hour, we were finally given our room (in a building that wasn't locked and had no staff on-site...) It was filthy. The shower dripped all night. The refrigerator sounded like a 747. The toilet only flushed part way. On the bright side, no bedbugs! What a surprise.

We'll never priceline an O'Hare hotel again because the risk of staying here again is too great.

“Extended Stay.... In hell!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2011

First the good. Both women we encountered at the desk were extremely pleasant. The good ends there. The carpets in the hallway had not been vacuumed (there was a piece of red licorice on the floor outside the elevator that we used to make sure we were on the right floor), someone had drawn on the leather chair with black magic marker, the wall clock was stuck at 2:00, the pull out couch was filthy and the encased mattress was of inferior quality, the sheet for the pull out couch had shoe prints all over, the room had a chemical smell, the bathroom had not been cleaned (don't ask how I know) and the place was generally disgusting. Stay away. Stay far away!

“THE ABSOLUTE WORST HOTEL”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

I have been to many Hotels, from the 5 stars to the 1 star but I have nver been to a Hotel as BAD as the Extended stay. Here are bulleted reason why you should stay away.

1. The odor of the rooms is horrible, 1 step inside and you can almost smell the mustiness and still air of the non ventilated rooms.
2. No rooms cleaning service except specified,
3. The towels and bed sheets have a yellowish color
4. During my stay there was extremely loud music from the next room like someone brought in a boom box just to make all the other mad.
5. Forget about paying for the wireless Internet connection, it is as slow as a 56k modem if not even slower
6. LAST REASON YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY IS I FREAKING GOT BED BUG RASHES. MY ARM , THIGHS AND STOMACH AREA IS COVERED WITH RASHES FROM BED BUGS..
I know we get what we paid for but $65 per night is not a reason to feel like you are in a Third world country or even worse.
Stay away, I wish I did!

“stay only if you didn't have a choice”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2008

we had a good experience at Extended Stay America at Indiana, so we decided to stay here again. But Extended Stay America Des Plaines was a far cry from what we expected. The room was small and poorly ventilated, and remained so even though we swtiched on the air conditioner. It was difficult to sleep with such poor ventilation. And the corridors had the smelled of cigarette smoke...
Other than that, the rooms were relatively clean... a decent place if you are not fussy

“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2008

We stayed at this hotel for our weekend getaway with the kids. The hotel ended up being the best part of the trip. The staff were very helpful and printed out the schedules for all the buses that came by the hotel. The room was very clean and had everything we needed to cook our meals. The shower was a little powerful but it felt good on our tired bodies. There was no pool or no cots but we could exercise at a local facility. It was a nice hotel to stay at.
