“Good for a business trip, not so much for family”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

We drove into the Chicago area to pick up our daughter at O'Hare and were looking for a hotel close to O'Hare. This property fits that description to a "T". Located just off I-294 at Touhy Ave. it is within an easy 5 minute drive to O'Hare. Overall, I think the recent reviews reflect the current condition of the property much more accurately than the earlier negative reviews. We stayed for two nights, one on points and the second one at $98 for two queens. Given this is a north Chicago suburb I didn't find the rate to be high. At check in we found the lobby to be spacious, if somewhat lacking in furniture. I was a little concerned about check in as I am used to being greeted by name as a Choice Privileges member when traveling. The check in greeting this time was "photo ID please". I realize it is Chicago but come on! The desk clerk the following morning was much more helpful and certainly a lot friendlier. We stayed in room 114.Close to the lobby, it actually was very quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The biggest problem-the bathroom is very very small, might be the smallest one we've come across in our travels. It had been remodeled and the fixtures were upgraded but it was still small. Plenty of soft towels but a short shower curtain and a loud exhaust fan.
I agree with other reviews. brown is the color of choice here. Doors, trim, and other area are painted a dark brown. Yes the carpet was a brown hue, but new, The furniture was also brown, but again new. The room could have used higher wattage light bulbs. Breakfast area was big enough and typical fare. No problems connecting to wi-fi.
Parking is unusual. There is a restaurant adjacent to the property. The front lot is marked for the restaurant and it seems like you are parking in a lot behind the hotel. But it is well landscaped.
No pool and small bathrooms do not lend this to a family stop over. If using O'Hare it's a great location and would seem to work reasonably well for business. Very easy access to interstate system and main surface roads to get anywhere in the city or north suburbs.

Room Tip: First floor rooms starting at about #114 are a very short walk from lobby and lobby entrance.

“old and brown”

We got bumped off a flight to London, England and were put up free of charge in this hotel by Virgin Atlantic. Virgin also gave us free return trips on any of their routes as compensation for being bumped. After stayting here I felt like we'd earned out free flights - alright a slight exagration and we were comparing it to the lovely downtown hotel we'd checked out of earlier, but the hotel was old and tired and the bedroom was dingy with sticky carpet and presumably when last refurbished, brown was the in colour.
On the up side, the bed was OK, the air con worked and wasn't too loud (and strangely there was a fridge and microwave in the room). The hotel has a free shuttle bus service to and from the airport so all in all it did all what was expected.
We also got vouchers from Virgin for the restuarant Tiffanys on the other side of the car park, the food here was really good.
I would gladly stay here again...............if I was given free return flight on Virgin Atlantic, otherwise I'd look at the competition.

“What the heck!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

Room was older and a bit dumpy, but I'm not that picky. What really got me was that (1) someone tried to get into my room and was only stopped by the security bar, and (2) a fast food delivery guy started pounding on my door at 1am and wouldn't stop. I didn't order any food if you hadn't guessed! Then the next morning they stuffed way more people into the shuttle than it should have held....full of adults and kids strewn about. It wasn't safe, and the kicker is that they had a larger van that they didn't use! I was there for 12 hours and have never had more trouble in such a short amount of time.

“Convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2011

We needed a room for the night due to early morning flight. The shuttle service was great, both directions. The check-in was very smooth and the room and bathroom both clean and adequate but the carpet was horrible. We slept well but left too early for the breakfast. Be sure to allow plenty of time at the airport in the early morning hours because security is very slow.
