“General Manager Thomas very rude and sarcastic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

I selected this location because family lives very close. I initially called on a Monday 7/26 and reserved one room for two of my family members for the weekend of 7/30-8/1. I then call back on Wednesday 7/28 to book another room for two more family members and was given a rate of $15 dollars more then the first quote. I was told because there at 95% occupancy and when that happens their rates go up. I asked the manager if I could get the same price that I was given on the first room, and he said there was nothing he could do about the rate. My first reservation was for 1 king size bed non smoking, my second reservation needed to be two beds and all they had was a smoking room available. Thomas then sarcastically said to me, well sir why would I give you the same rate as the first room when your getting another bed? Really was that comment from a General Manager really necessary? I just hope maybe upper management might see this post, if not let all be aware that the General Manager is all about the money at this location. By the way I still reserved the room because it is the closest Hotel to my families home.

“Don't stay here.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

Our room was so bad we left within an hour of check in and went to another hotel. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke and many other problems. Front desk advised us there were no other rooms available. As we tried to decide if we could handle the odor, we found hair in the sink and toilet, a window open with no screen and wouldn't close, TV cable cord wasn't hooked up, room key had dried food all over it, and shower made a horrible noise when turned on. We left. Staff didn't seemed concerned nor surprised that we were leaving. Sad, because my daughter stayed there in Oct 2009 and had no problems.

“Probably won't return”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2008

The overall stay was satisfactory, but I had several problems. At check-in I paid $5.44 for the wireless Internet that would be available for the duration of my stay (9 nights). I was not able to connect to the Internet the first night. My room had definitely been a smoking room in the past, and smelled faintly of cigarettes. A couple of days later I wanted to wash my dishes, so I went to the front desk to see if they had any dish soap. This was about 9:30 pm and the desk was already closed. I asked the next day when the desk was open and the clerk told me the housekeepers had it. Unfortunately, I did not encounter any housekeepers since they cleaned the rooms while I was at work. Also, about housekeeping...I checked in on a Sunday and was checking out the following Tuesday of the next week. My cleaning day was scheduled for that Thursday, which unfortunately was Thanksgiving. I was out of town for the day and returned to a still-dirty room. I called the front desk and they told me the housekeepers were off that day and Friday for the holiday. I asked when I'd be getting my room cleaned and they told me either that Saturday or the following Monday. I wouldn't have cared much except that I needed dish soap and fresh towels. Saturday came and went with no cleaning. So I waited until Monday (the day before my check-out) and it also came and went with no cleaning. So I had dirty dishes for the last few days of my stay because I could not get any soap. On Sunday I was checking my bank account and noticed a charge for $150 for Extended Stay. I was confused because my company was paying for my entire stay. I called the desk and the clerk was able to reverse the charge...it turns out that since I had given my credit card for the Internet charge when I checked in, it was the last card on file and when the week rolled over, it charged the last card on file. That problem was taken care of without any problems. That Monday I also returned from work to find that my Internet was not working once again. It was now December 1 and the password for the Internet changes at the beginning of the month. I called the front desk for the new password and the clerk told me that she hadn't been given the new password yet. I called the help desk and the recording said that the password could only be obtained from the front desk. So I also did not have Internet for the last day of my stay. The one positive thing is that the bed was very comfortable and I slept very well each night of my stay, but I had so many negative experiences that I will not return to this hotel.

Great place to stay. Room very clean, quiet hotel, convenient location. Bring a hairdryer, it is not provided in the room. Perfect hotel and location for people attending Wilton cake decorating classes.

“Very satisfactory sty at Darien, Il”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2003

We had a good stay at Darien, Il. The room and motel were clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was quiet. Whenever we go back to the area, we will definitely stay there.

Probably the one thing that was a little disconcerting (which is of no fault of the motel) was the entrance off Lemont onto frontage road. It is dark and hard to see on rainy nights which was the time we first arrived.
