We were traveling from New Mexico back to upstate New York. We were going through several states, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and on this night we decided to get beyond St. Louis. We did just that and found a decent little hotel in Collinsville. I have found that throughout the years Super 8 can be either hit or miss. This one was really good.
First of all, they took pets and she gave us an excellent rate of only $53 per night. My partner said, "how much did you pay for this room?" I quoted him the price, and he said, "you got a good deal." The room was huge and very clean. The bedding was new without cigarette burns in it, which I have seen in the past with extended cable. Fortunately, our bathing suits were readily available as this property has an indoor heated pool and hot tub, both of which we used. There is a computer in the lobby with full Internet access and the hotel also has wi-fi. Another primary reason that we chose this hotel is that they accept pets. We were traveling with out dog and cat. I never seem to let anyone know I have the cat with me, but the dog I can't really get around that one.
This hotel is also located at a perfect location because there is a full restaurant in the same area. There is also a convenience store located across from the hotel property which came it very handy to us.
I am an early riser, so I was up at 5:00 am and went to the lobby to use the computer there. I didn't want to wake up my partner by using the laptop. When I got to the lobby there wasn't anyone at the front desk..... A few minutes after I began using the computer a local police officer came into the lobby and asked me where the front desk clerk was. I replied, "there hasn't been anyone here for 15 minutes." He didn't say much and left while I was using the lobby computer. About another 10 minutes later or so the front desk clerk appeared from behind a closed door, and it looked as if she had just woke up from taking a nap. I can't say I blame her, since I have worked the graveyard shift before and it's tough.
In the morning from 6-10 this hotel has a full breakfast in the lobby. It was wonderful with bagels cold and hot ceral other assortments of bread and pastries. This hotel was well-worth $53 per night plus tax. There is a $10 pet fee.
If passing through I-44 again, I would stay at this property.
