“Time To Get Off The Road”

We were traveling from New Mexico back to upstate New York. We were going through several states, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and on this night we decided to get beyond St. Louis. We did just that and found a decent little hotel in Collinsville. I have found that throughout the years Super 8 can be either hit or miss. This one was really good.

First of all, they took pets and she gave us an excellent rate of only $53 per night. My partner said, "how much did you pay for this room?" I quoted him the price, and he said, "you got a good deal." The room was huge and very clean. The bedding was new without cigarette burns in it, which I have seen in the past with extended cable. Fortunately, our bathing suits were readily available as this property has an indoor heated pool and hot tub, both of which we used. There is a computer in the lobby with full Internet access and the hotel also has wi-fi. Another primary reason that we chose this hotel is that they accept pets. We were traveling with out dog and cat. I never seem to let anyone know I have the cat with me, but the dog I can't really get around that one.

This hotel is also located at a perfect location because there is a full restaurant in the same area. There is also a convenience store located across from the hotel property which came it very handy to us.

I am an early riser, so I was up at 5:00 am and went to the lobby to use the computer there. I didn't want to wake up my partner by using the laptop. When I got to the lobby there wasn't anyone at the front desk..... A few minutes after I began using the computer a local police officer came into the lobby and asked me where the front desk clerk was. I replied, "there hasn't been anyone here for 15 minutes." He didn't say much and left while I was using the lobby computer. About another 10 minutes later or so the front desk clerk appeared from behind a closed door, and it looked as if she had just woke up from taking a nap. I can't say I blame her, since I have worked the graveyard shift before and it's tough.

In the morning from 6-10 this hotel has a full breakfast in the lobby. It was wonderful with bagels cold and hot ceral other assortments of bread and pastries. This hotel was well-worth $53 per night plus tax. There is a $10 pet fee.

If passing through I-44 again, I would stay at this property.

“Super Staff and Clean Rooms!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

I booked our Queen room at the Collinsville Super 8 thru Wyndham Rewards, and when I received my confirmation, I had been given a 2 double room, so I called back, and was told that the hotel had made the change. Wyndham had contacted the hotel about my concerns, and when we arrived to a sold out night, the Manager had already upgraded us to a large king room. The room was clean (in an area that usually isn't), and very quiet, the bed was comfortable with better than usual pillows. The check in and check out staff was very efficient and friendly. Breakfast was better than average, with boiled eggs, pastries, various breads, cereal, juices, coffee and tea. We will stay again.

“Family had a great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

No frills but didn't need them! It was nice staying about 10 minutes outside of the city and saving lots of cash! Simple, but ample breakfast. Close to all kinds of restaurants too!
The location is very safe. The rooms were very clean & very, very comfortable beds! We are very glad we stayed here & will stay again next year!

“What's that smell!?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

It is an entry level accommodation in many ways. However, upon entering into the second door from the lobby area, you won't miss that smell. It is not much different in the room. We had to keep A/C running, bathroom fan running, non-stop. Still, everything we owned, we wore that day, had that unavoidable smell. Do three rounds of laundry immediately upon return. Some had to be washed twice. We should have known. There was a humidity/water collecting bag hanging inside the room. We believe the whole place has some serious damp, humidity issues. The carpet on the entry stairs was so dirty and "damp". I have to wonder, how did it pass any inspection. Don't know about mold, but has to wonder.

My advice: avoid at any cost.

Otherwise, nice, friendly staff, but terrible smell.

Our hotel does make a great effort to keep the hotel clean and comfortable. The stairwell carpet was scheduled to be cleaned the following Monday. I am so sorry that the smell in your room was undesireable. We do try hard to keep it smelling fresh. The bags in the room do collect moisture, and we thought they were working for our rooms. Once again, I do apologize for your stay. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to try our hotel again. Thanks!

“Very satisfied”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

This hotel was comfortable, clean, quiet, and conveniently located along our route. The breakfast was everything I expect in a hotel breakfast: juice, cereal including oatmeal, milk, various bread options, and coffee and tea. They even had hard-boiled eggs. Best of all, the price was very reasonable for such a nice place to stay. I have no complaints at all about our stay or the hotel.
