We stayed here for a college audition for my son. The building is very nice and the staff very helpful. The design is more modern, but very comfortable. I do enjoy the layout and amenities of the room. Look at these, which are more than most hotels. Including a humidifier free upon request, also an exercise kit to use, also free.

This hotel is Nice, but I would not go back. I have been to Chicago several times, rather stay on Michigan ave. They have cocktail hours & free drinks in the lobby around 5 pm. If you get a good deal & willing to walk, go ahead.

I really enjoyed my stay in both Chicago and at the Hotel Allegro.

We experienced very friendly service; the wine hour is definitely a good idea to leave satisfied customers. All facilities were to a high standard and worked efficiently.

Any drawbacks?

The location is great for business travellers, but if you're a tourist, it leaves you a little away from the evening action.

The room wasn't fantastically large by American standards, although for someone coming from Europe, it was more than adequate.

I suppose the fact that getting free Wi-Fi involves giving your email address, which then leaves you getting frequent Kimpton mails until you unsubscribe is a bit annoting.

I'm not kidding -- those are their names. Great staff, huge and stylish room (jacuzzi king suite), ridiculous value, good food, Aveda bath products, comfortable beds. I will admit i'm a loyal Kimpton customer and love earning those free nights. This is the second time I've stayed at the Allegro -- first time was several years ago. I'm enjoying this stay and will stay here again. But there is room for improvement. Housekeeping failed to remove the previous guest's used soap -- gross. I told woman at the front desk as i left for a meeting, expecting to come back to find some sort of apology gift -- nada. Don't they teach them the first rule of hospitality. Walls are a little thin, which did not affect my sleep at all because my bedroom was in a corner, but i felt i had to keep the TV volume low in the livingroom so as not to disturb my neighbor, since i could hear him. Fitness room is too small - every machine occupied at 6 am so a few of us left without our exercise. Nevertheless, if you want a rock star experience for the price you would pay for a regular room at a boring hotel, check out the Allegro.
