I was traveling for work - scheduled meetings in Lincoln Park - my travel department booked me at the Belden-Stratford. It was a wonderful old-time hotel ... which also functions as an apartment rental. They put me in a 3-room suite - it had to be at least 1,000 SF - with a great view of downtown. From the 8th floor, I could see the Hancock Building, Navy Pier, Lakeshore Drive. Rate was only $129/night. I had very nice dinner at Mon Ami Gabi - which is just off the hotel lobby. I was able to walk to and from my meetings on Halstad. The only downside was they did not have my reservation in their system when I arrived. I provided a copy of my confirmation and they gladly honored the reservation. Maybe that's why they put me in the gigantic suite.

We have been staying here since 2007. We have to visit Childrens Hospital and the Hospital suggested the Belden. It is beyond superb! They are so friendly, the room are small apartments and it is a 8 min taxi to downtown Or you can walk for 15 min on a gorgeous day thru beautiful Parks. We get a hospital shuttle or the BellHops get you a taxi right away. Will stay here again and again! There is a nice sun deck but no pool. There is a spa and small workout room.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from Dec. 21 to Dec. 28, 2011. What a great hotel, fabulous location, near the lake, Lincoln Park zoo, and in the heart of some great restaurants and shops in Lincoln Park.

The hotel staff all very helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is older but lovely with lots of character. Our room was on the 16th floor with a view of the lake, we had a large room, lots of closet space and a full kitchen. Our stay included a continental breakfast which was very good and certainly enough to eat. Our only recommendation would be to have fewer bread items and fresh fruit and yogurt in their place.

The only downside was an occasional inattentive desk staff person. Would recommend this hotel to anyone interested is spending time in Chicago, it is a great place and we plan to return on our next Chicago visit.

It was our first stay here, on Thanksgiving weekend. We received a room upgrade and loved our spacious 9th floor unit with a view of the lake. It was the quietest hotel room we have ever had. The holiday decorations were lovely. The location was perfect, easy access to lake shore running paths, close to the zoo and conservatory, and a very short walk to a bus that goes straight down Michigan Ave. We hope to stay there again soon.
