Stayed here for 5 days over NYE.
Location: Michigan Ave. / Magnificent Mile -- AMAZING...close to everything. Hit the bloomingdales - amazing deals! AND if your from out of state: you get 15% off on top of that (go to customer service to ask for the coupon). We took the L train all over the city and it was just awesome- buy the 7 day pass and explore! Make sure to head to Wicker park area...soooo cool! Go to Wormhole Cafe for coffee....sooooooo goood.
Rooms: As Hilton hons member, I was given an upgrade to a king suite. Lovely room with old world charm. Strange about no wifi in rooms....I was annoyed at first, BUT you know, its a good thing, cause its time to escape and not be on your devices...for business i guess not great, but hey, for vacation I say great...we need to interact and be together! There is free wifi in lobby. Super Comfy beds.
Rates: We booked our deal including flight ....Amazing since it was over NYE. We could hear our neighbors (young people partying for NYE talking about how they paid 400 to stay the night). So, we definitely got an amazing deal. Sometimes thin walls are a good thing. ;) Made my day as I love a deal! ;)
Elite Breakfast: It was pretty so so. The wait staff don't seem to clear the tables, so we did so ourselves each morning so that we got a seat. It was pretty weak. No eggs, just cold things like yog, cereal, bread, muselix, fruits, salmon, etc. They often ran out of stuff if you get there 1/2 before closing. Also, one of the mornings they started putting the food away before it was over which was a little rude.
Lobby: Beautiful. Wish we tried the various restos due to the history but we didn't so I can't comment. Next time hopefully. We tried to get a drink the one night but it was an hour wait and the waiter was a little stuffy for my liking so we didn't bother.
NYE: we were going to a concert at the Aragon ballroom, but the hotel was hosting a swanky party. Maybe hit that next year!
Highly recommend this hotel. It is nice to stay in a place with history, old charm, etc. I also LOVE the carpets....you will see what i mean! And yes, the walls are thin and you can hear people if you are trying, but most times it was quiet and comfortable~

Dear Trip Advisor,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your stay with us over the New Year holiday. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you were caused due to overly noisy neighbors. Most importantly though, I thank you for bringing the issues you experienced in the Executive Lounge to my attention. It will surely be addressed. I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed some of our recent upgrades to our decor. We are delighted to let you know that Wi-fi will soon be available in our guestrooms--- which I agree with you, is good for our business travelers, but I hope it doesn't prevent our vacationers from experiencing all Chicago has to offer! Thank you again for your review and we hope to welcome you back again soon.
