“Our compliments for the service received from Suzanne Spring”

On our way to your hotel for an over night stay so that we could attend our Grand Daughter's gymnastics event on Sunday Morning we ran into a detour on Wacker Street and ended up lost. Not having GPS and being stranded in the middle of downtown Chicago we called your concierge's desk and immediately Suzanne calmed our fears and assured us that she would get us to the hotel safe and sound. She stayed on the phone with us street by street, never once making us feel like we were keeping her from something more important, until we arrived at your hotel for our stay. During our time on the phone with Suzanne we were her only concern and that is why from now on all of our stays in Chicago will be spent at your Sheraton Hotel on Water Street.

Again Thanks,

Jim and Kathy Taylor

“Great value and service, pleasantly surprised”

We stayed for a weekend trip and received a great rate through Priceline. You don't always know what you'll get, but we ended up very pleasantly surprised by the Sheraton. On the plus side, the service was fantastic. We arrived pretty early and had no trouble getting our room right away. Even though we had a Priceline booking, we were still asked on preferences for room type and location, which we didn't expect, but was a nice touch. We ended up with a room on a higher floor with a fantastic view west towards Trump/Wrigley/NBC tower. Given it's location, I don't think there would be a bad view on the property. We had cocktails at the lobby bar and ordered room service as well - both very reasonable and with friendly service. Really the only downside was that the room was quite dated looking however we understood that a renovation is underway (and didn't expect a renovated room for the amazing deal we got). We probably would not have initially chosen the hotel that was chosen for us by Priceline, but after staying, would likely stay again (once the renovations are complete).

“Would not stay at this hotel again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Upon check in we were informed that "self Parking" had no in-out privileges and was $37.00 per day. The valet option did have in-out privileges, so we chose that option, but it cost $51.00 per day. A total of $102.00 to park our car for two days at the hotel. The valet doesn't even bring the car to the front door, you have to go down to the basement to pick up your car. The parking charge was 1/3 the cost of our room which we were not happy about, nor do they tell you that when you book your room.
Secondly, being the weekend before Valentine's, my husband thought it would be a special surprise to have flowers in our room. He called the hotel a few days before our arrival and spoke to the concierge who assured him they could take care of that. He was referred to Randolph florist, who also said, they do that all the time. Well upon our arrival, no flowers in the room, spoiling the surprise my husband had planned. The hotel did have the flowers, they offered no apologies or explanation as to what happened with the flower delivery.
Thirdly, the hotel offers free wi-fi in the rooms, but we had difficulty on my laptop of getting a signal strong enough to use the wi-fi.
We sure were disappointed and upon expressing our disappointment were referred by the concierge to log our feedback on tripadvisor.com.
Fourthly, we were attending the Auto Show and the hotel advertised a free shuttle to the convention center. The hours of the shuttle were 8am - 11am and then from 7:30pm - 10pm. These times were not advertised anywhere on the hotel web site, only that there was a free shuttle. Some other travelers waited over 75 minutes for the shuttle, that was supposed to run every 1/2 hour.
The hotel was convenient to .various locations within walking distance for food, etc....but a return trip back to Chicago will result to in us staying in a different hotel.

Dear Morris7180,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and while your comments were disappointing to read, I greatly appreciate you sharing them so that we can take the appropriate measures to ensure that other guests do not have a similar experience.

There is certainly no excuse for our failure to deliver the flowers as promised or to take ownership of the concerns you brought to our attention. I strongly believe that our guests understand that sometimes things happen but it how we respond that makes the difference. I appreciate the detailed information you have shared for it allows us valuable training examples that will improve the service we provide to our guests.

I have shared your comments regarding the auto shuttle service so that next year we better communicate the hours of operation of the shuttle.

Mrs. Morris, I do hope that you will choose to give the Sheraton Chicago another chance to demonstrate that we are able to provide the quality of service you have every right to expect from a Sheraton hotel.

Warmest regards,

“While I am here, I'll say this”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The hotel is nice, we are here right now on the 33 floor. The bed is amazing and the room is clean and spacious BUT and you know there is always a but. I am very disappointed at the club lounge. I am a gold club member for spy and I have stayed in a LOT of Sheraton properties and to have a price of $180 a night on hot-wire they could have had a better breakfast. I have stayed at many whetstone and paid much less for the club floor lounge access and gotten hot breakfast. Traveling to a place you do not know and especially with driving being so difficult in Chicago. It would have been nice. Defineatly not with the upgrade price to the club floor. Very disappointed in this Sheraton club brand hotel.

Room Tip: If you are buying the club floor, understand it is a cheap breakfast and not worn the upgrade unless...

“Outstanding Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

There are two parts to this review...FIRST THE SERVICE: As we were checking in, a young man named Donnie and a young woman who looks just like the actress, Jennifer Connelly
(I say that because I can't recall her name) were assisting us. We mentioned we were staying at the Sheraton for our daughter's birthday. Could we get our adjoining rooms with a nice view? No problem. Done. Donnie and "Jennifer" asked what we had planned and if we needed any help planning our day and night in the city. We didn't, but next thing I know as we are out enjoying Chicago, is that Donnie is calling me on my cell phone to find out my daughter's favorite type of cupcake. That evening we had cupcakes sent to our room for all of us, including a hand signed (by several employees) birthday card for her. We were treated like royalty and it made my daughter's birthday so incredibly special. Service on every account was EXCELLENT.
NEXT: THE ROOMS: pretty, but not particularly clean in the bathroom - mold in bathroom vents, gross ring around the base of the toilets at floor level. Felt like it needed to be bleached.

Having said that we would be back in a heartbeat as the service was so warm and genuine.
