This was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Dirty, 20 years overdue for remodeling, small room, poor service and elevator ride was a scarey experience. They initially checked me into a room with someone else in it and as I waited at the front desk to get a new room there were several other guests behind me that had the same issue.

The shower was coated in someone elses hair and the chair in the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in 10 years. Old single pain windows on cold windy Chicago night didn't make for a good nights sleep.

I asked for an iron to be delived to my room three times and it never came.

Would recommend staying anywhere else but here.

I stayed here with a friend during a visit in December 2011. There's no doubt the hotel is well located, it's a short distance from Michigan Avenue, the main Chicago shopping street.
When we arrived, we spent around 15 minutes just chatting to the chap on reception and the bell boy about various things, mainly sport! All the staff are very friendly and helpful, our room safe broke at one point and they couldn't do enough to help fix it straight away.
However the standard of the rooms could be slightly better, they just look a little tired.
The walls & furniture look like they need updating to keep up with the competition and the bathroom was freezing. There was no source of heat to it that we could find and the window just let the icy draught right in even when shut (it wouldn't open).
So you had to be very quick when using the bathroom!
I'd say if Travelodge spent a bit of money updating this hotel and making the bathrooms a bit more 'user friendly' it would be a 4 or 5 star rating for sure.

Walking distance to EVERYthing! Staff was really great. The concierge gave us directions, a city map, and even helped us out when we wanted to ride the "L" just for the fun of it! Never needed to pay cab fare. Got to see and do everything we went to Chicago for cuz we were centrally located. Great hotel for the price!

The room was not clean, there was a condom wrapper under the edge of the TV stand, the carpet had dirt everywhere, the bathroom was pretty clean.
The outlet that the TV plugs into, is not grounded, found that after my son plugged in his laptop.
The parking garage attached to south side of the hotel was closed as of 12-11-11(signs on entrance) they failed to update that on there website, parking across the street is valet $35.00 for cars, and $42.00 for Vans or oversize vehicles.
