“From Honeymoon '99 and Beyond...”

Both for the accommodation and sentimental value, this is by far our favorite place to stay in Chicago. For location, for price, for service...we always return! In former days, this was a splurge. Now, after being able to shack up at the Drake, the Intercontinental, the Hyatt; or taking our second choice at the Knickerbocker, the Embassy Suites Downtown, and a B&B in Wicker Park; we still always check here first when coming to Chicago!

Not fancy, but always clean, and there are some free nibbles for breakfast (gird your loins for the crush of hungry tourists). The area has changed tremendously from when we were first diverted from now-defunct Days Inn Lincoln Park during our honeymoon! There are still great local and CHEAP bars and restaurants. Downtown is just a busride away to the South, Broadway Antiques a busride to the north, and the L & L Tavern (best jukebox ever, and FREE!) is in walking distance. Not to mention Chicago Comics, Pizza at Brick's or Rinaldi's, the Brew and View at the Vic, Uncle Fun's, Hanig's Shoebox, and of course BINNY's for wine and cheese and beer! Can't rave enough about this hotel, and regret it is so popular. Grab a three day metro pass at the walgreens across the street and you are SET to explore the city. Lakeview is more gentrified and is now occupied by more corporate stores than previously, but it is still a great home base for our explorations in Chicago. The Days Inn at this location has always been clean, relatively quiet, and friendly. It ain't the Drake, but other qualities and value make this hotel Highly Recommended.

“Would return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We just returned from a 3 day stay at the Days Inn. It was great! The room was simple and small, but clean, inviting and was perfect for what we needed. PLUS - it was about 4 blocks from the L and everything was right there! Great Location!!!!! Highly Reccomend and will retun for sure! Staff was friendly and helpful.. Pictures online that they post are accurate. Good Job Days Inn!!

“GREAT STAY!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I've stayed at many hotels in Chicago. This was my first stay here. The staff go out of there duty call for the guest! They make you feel at home. The "L train is only 4blks away. Bus stop in front of building. I forgot a RX when I packed Walgreens 1blk got my RX. Great food within a few blocks. Breakfast was cool I'm going to miss the "easy-bake" waffle machine. The valet parking guys that service guests were always ready to flag a cab or open a door, unload luggage if needed. I stayed 5days in a budget room. It was very comfortable. Wifi was flawless on I-pad, I-pod, XP netbook and Win7 laptop. Bed was very just right for a 6'-01" 295lbs person. My only negative was having to checkout vacation over and go back to work.

Room Tip: I stayed in a basic inside room. No view but quiet. Staff very willing to upgrade if you want a view...

“Great Chicago Value in a eclectic neighborhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I was apprehensive about staying in a Days Inn, as I am usually a four star kind of laday and usually stay downtown. I chose this hotel due to its proximity to DePaul University. I must say, that I was pleasantly surprised by the physical appearance of the rooms and the lobby! The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfy and the free breakfast is good. I love the neighborhood, there are trendy national brand stores (Urban Outfitter, Trader Joes, Starbucks) mixed in with local favorites. Guests have complimentary access to Bally's. It is a very walkable and joggable neighborhood, imagine my surprise one morning when I literally ran into a zoo and beautiful gardens during one of my early morning jogs. Weather permitting, we usually walk to DePaul during visits to see our son and the discount for DePaul parents is a great plus. I appreciate the hotel's efforts at being green, though I am not so sure of what happens to the breakfast trash and would like to see more eco-friendly serveware. Try it you'll like it!

Room Tip: I enjoy rooms on the Diversey side for a good view of street activity, of course it comes with a bit...

“A nice hotel next to Gold Coast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Nice hotel with great rooms. A lot of space in the rooms. The breakfast buffet offers a lot. Making your own waffles is amusing. Reception staff gives good information. Good situation. The only negative thing is the noice on the street at night. When we asked a room on the backside, it was not possible but the nice receptionist gave us a business room (with 2 bathrooms and a sitting room) on the backside for 9$ a night!

Room Tip: Ask a room on the backside.
