“Wow -- I loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

A historic hotel with beautiful lobby and ultra modern, almost W-like, rooms. My room was relatively small but completely comfortable with 3 big windows and a view of the Lake. It had a desk with a pull-out section, almost doubling its size. The bed was very comfortable; temperature control was perfect. The bathroom, with dark navy (or black) walls had a double sink, a large walk-in shower, and great lighting -- lots of chrome and glass. Everything worked perfectly; there were lots of surfaces; and easily accessible outlets everywhere.

I needed to grab food on the go, and ended up crossing the street to the Hilton for that. The Starbucks in the hotel had a very long line every time I checked it out, and no other please to grad something.

I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Gotta love the lake view.

Dear suebob,
We really appreciate you taking the time to give praise to our hotel. We pride ourselves on giving our guests a comfortable and memorable stay. The changes we made in 2008 have been extremely worthwhile and reading about your time with us reinforces this.

We have a delightful little eatery attached within the hotel just across from Starbucks called Bodega No. 5, next time you stay with us feel free to check it out as the food there is wonderful.

Thank you for your lovely words, we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Kind regards,

Cynthia

“Great location and price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

If you're into the museums, or just want a comfortable, clean room at an affordable price, then look no further. Yes, it's not the cheapest place to stay, but the rooms are nice, the staff couldn't have been more friendly & helpful, and the location is superb (and if you ask for a lakefront room, the views are stunning!).

Room Tip: Ask for lake front, and get higher floors...there is a conference floor which can get a bit noisy!

“Great Hotel. Large Rooms.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Stayed here for a conference. Most of my colleagues stayed at one of the other nearby hotels and most complained about small/old rooms. The rooms at this hotel are clean, well appointed, comfortable, quiet and HUGE! The beds are very comfortable as well. The best views are in rooms facing Michigan Avenue. There will be a little street noise there however. Rooms facing the back have decent views and the corner rooms are particularly large but the trains pass by just a few blocks away and they can be loud. Side facing rooms are quieter (I had one) but less scenic. The gym is very well equiped and free. The staff is very friendly. One minor gripe, you have to pay for internet service but there seems to be no esacping that at any of the higher priced hotels there days. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Depends on your tolerance for the usual, mild street noise. Front facing room if you can stand a bi...

“Tremendou Quality (Hotel and Staff)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Do not have enough words to describe the experience at this hotel. Had a short stay there (my mistake) and was gladly surprised with the amenities, room, etc. But wat really blew my mind was the staff, all of them extremely helpful and willing to make you feel you were an important guest.

And to top it up, I had an issue with an ebay purchase that arrived after I left and their Mail Service was totally helpful in assisting me with getting it sent to another location.

I will most likely return to Chicago and stay at this hotel again.
