“Tremendou Quality (Hotel and Staff)”

Do not have enough words to describe the experience at this hotel. Had a short stay there (my mistake) and was gladly surprised with the amenities, room, etc. But wat really blew my mind was the staff, all of them extremely helpful and willing to make you feel you were an important guest.

And to top it up, I had an issue with an ebay purchase that arrived after I left and their Mail Service was totally helpful in assisting me with getting it sent to another location.

I will most likely return to Chicago and stay at this hotel again.

Dear ablux28,
You are welcome back at anytime to the Blackstone. We believe our staff set our hotel apart from others and delivers a unique experience for our guests. The position of the hotel is perfectly placed for touring the city and seeing all the hotspots next time you are in town. Our concierge are always looking to help our guests have an experience to remember so make sure you look to them for advice on what to do, where to go and how to do it!

Thank you for your delightful review.

“Fabulous for events!”

I stayed for New Years Eve for a wedding hosted in the ballroom. First, I was amazed at the cost of the rooms; what a deal for downtown! We took the train in from Midway and it was just a short walk. We were excited that our room was ready for an early check in. The rooms were well decorated; my only critique was that there was no bath tub, but the big walkin rain shower was nice. The rooms had some great books about the city, I think my husband read them all during our 2 night stay.

As for the event, I was blown away a how gorgeous everything was and how well organized it was. Ceremony and reception were in the ballroom - you really just need to see it if you are there. There was cocktails on the art floor, which had a very cool vibe. I just loved the history of the building.

Will definitely stay there when we come back in baseball season to cheer on he cubs.

“A top notch hotel with a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Blackstone, back in June 2011. It’s a wonderful hotel with true character and a great location (down by Grant Park and the waterfront).

The creative decor and ambiance is both charmng and witty, with a perfect blend of old and new, and with lots of attention to detail. I loved the decor in the lobby, as it’s so inviting.

The room was very comfortable and clean, with lots of space to move around and nature light. I had a corner room, overlooking the lake and Grant Park, wow, what a view! By far this hotel has the best views of the city/waterfront in the city. You can see everything.

The service was also top notch, they honoured my early check-in request and someone even gave me a brief tour of the room/hotel, now that’s service. Why couldn't the Penn or the Eylisan, (both 5 star hotels) do that?

The only flaw that I can think of, you can hear some train noise from below, but it wasn't very loud and by all means nothing to keep you awake. But then again, it is a very old building, so it’s a given.

Best of all, the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Very good bang for your buck. I would definitely return back, as the Blackstone is now one of my favorite hotels of all time.

Room Tip: Get a corner room overlooking the Lake

“Can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My husband and I have stayed at the Blackstone before and had a great time - but never thought of it with our kids. We found ourselves going downtown for the Chicago Cubs Convention at the hotel across the street from the Blackstone. Being that we are Marriott elite members, the Blackstone was an obvious choice...but would it be ok for the kids? I called the hotel directly and chatted with Tina (she is wonderful!) and made the reservation.

We asked for early check in since we would be arriving in the morning for the convention. I intended just to drop our bags with the bellman and head across the street. When we arrived at 8 am, we were told they had a room ready for us!!! Really??? Amazing!!!! We headed up to our room - it was on Club level - and were thrilled with the size for the 4 of us! It was a really big room for such an old building - much bigger than the other rooms in the hotel we have been in.

We returned after a full day at the convention and were warmly welcomed back by the doorman - he made a point to talk to my daughters. They thought that was the best thing ever! Little things like that make all the difference!

We had one issue - at about 2 am the room next to us decided to have a REALLY loud party. Loud to the point our wall was rattling from the music and LOUD people. A quick, polite call down to the front desk had the issue settled within 20 minutes, and we all went back to sleep. Not the greatest experience in the world, but it was certainly not the hotel's fault, and they handled it quickly!!!

We will be back to our wonderful Blackstone this summer, and we will definitely be back for next year's Cubs Convention!!!

Dear mrspmc00,
Wow, thank you for such a detailed review of our hotel. Our hotel is certainly for everyone and we are glad you brought your children to experience it.

Any disturbance is quickly dealt and we are glad this did not disrupt your stay. Our staff enjoy the interaction with our guests as much as they do and we agree, the little things really do make a difference. We are thrilled you singled out Tina for praise as she truly is a great asset to the hotel.

We are very excited to welcome you back for next year’s Cubs convention…Go Cubs!!
