Our first visit to Chicago would have been only half as tremendous without the accommodation provided by Sally at the God Coast Guest House. We could have stayed at a faceless, charmless hotel perhaps a few minutes closer to downtown, but seriously, for the benefit of having a safe, secure, warm, welcoming place to come back to after a day of exploring Chicago, its really a no-brainer. Book here.
Sally made every effort to make us feel welcome, and while the initially communal feel to the place may deter some, you have as much privacy as anywhere else.
Breakfast sees a full board beyond what you'll get at hotels costing twice as much, with access to snacks as well if needed for the day.
The room we stayed in was spacious, warm, well appointed with large walk-in shower, gorgeous high-thread count sheets, and flat-screen TV.
The location is a 2 min walk to the Clark-Division subway stop and 1 stop to Magnificent Mile - there's heaps of restaurants in the immediate area (check out Bistrot Zinc), pharmacies, grocery stores, twee little shops, etc. - you're not more than a few mins walk from everything you should need.
All-in-all, this guest house made a wet and potentially miserable weekend getaway to Chicago a brilliant delightful excursion.
