The house is in a nice neighborhood not too far north of Wrigley Field and next to a large cemetery that tends to limit traffic on the actual street. The bathroom is shared and it's no fault of the proprietor, but the other guests present when we stayed were in the bathroom for 1 to 2 hours each morning and we were unable to clean up before having to start our day away from the Inn. That kind of rudeness is rare, I'm sure, but it is a problem.
Breakfast consisted of boxed cold cereals from an organic grocer with milk and there were some boxed pastries available each morning. The coffee was very tasty. Our bedroom was a little small, but we didn't stay in it except to sleep. Who wants to stay indoors when the weather's wonderful in Chicago.
We thought that access to the L was close and simple and we never, ever felt unsafe walking anywhere near the guesthouse or between it and train. We took cabs coming and going from Union Station, each way costing an amazing affordable $25 or so. There is a major street nearby on which a cab passed every 6 cars or so. In other words, no problems getting around without a car in the City.
