“A real gem (and a bargain) in Chicago!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We checked out so many Chicago hotels before we decided where to stay. The Hampton Majestic seemed to good to be true - but it wasn't! From the minute we arrived, we were impressed. The young lady on the reception desk on Thursday, January 26, is amazing! (*Note to management - this girl deserves a raise. She is such a great "face" for the hotel) The room was sparkling clean and SO QUIET! We'd read so often about noisy hotels in Chicago, but not the Majestic. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast was great, with lots of fresh fruit and hot entrees. The kitchen staff kept things topped up.
The hotel itself is located in a great area. We walked everywhere because we enjoyed being out in the neighbourhood - where we felt totally safe. We spoke to many "street folk" and they were wonderful characters. Plenty of good restaurants everywhere. The Millennium Mile was a healthy jaunt from the hotel but choose to walk because there was so much to see. Public transit is excellent. We didn't take a car and were very happy with that choice. You don't need a car in downtown Chicago.
Based on facility, price, location, amenities and staff, we'd highly recommend this hotel!

“Great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Went to Chicago for New Years and stayed here for 3 nights. Found the hotel on tripadvisor and all the great reviews convinced me to stay here. such a great place to stay and its cheap (but doesn't feel like you are staying in a cheap hotel).
First, the staff was amazing. My boyfriend and I arrived in Chicago on a Friday morning at 8am. We were exhausted from getting up so early to leave Boston. We stopped at the hotel to drop off our bags (because we assumed we wouldn't be able to check in until 3pm like their website says) and our room was ready - so we got to check in early (for no extra cost)! Continental breakfast was happening while we were checking in, so the person who checked us in - told us to feel free to grab food (so got an extra continental breakfast for free). Continental breakfasts were pretty good too. They had a yummy western omelet and home fries.
Rooms are really cute and look nicer than you would expect for a hampton inn. The hotel is in a great location, especially if you want to go to the theater (literally next door). Hotel was right next to the red and blue line - so perfect for taking public transportation around the city and to the airport.
Our flight home was in the evening, so they let us keep our bags at the hotel after we checked out (so we could explore the city without our luggage).
Extremely helpful and nice hotel staff. Would definitely stay here again.

“Perfect hotel for city lovers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The Majestic is in an amazing location, right in the heart of Chicago. When you walk out the door of this converted early 20th century office building, you are just blocks from the Art Institute of Chicago and Millienium Park, Chagall's Four Seasons mosaic in on the corner, Calder's Flamingo sculpture is on the next block, the Berghoff restaurant is two blocks away, and the "El" is around the corner to take you anywhere you want to go in Chicago.
The hotel rooms are attractive and comfortable. Hampton Inn showed real pride of place by hiring a photographer to take photos of architectural details of the Majestic Theater, which shares the building, during renovations. These photos are in all the rooms and public areas, and make a nice change from the usual hotel art.
There is a breakfast bar included with the stay, and free coffee and fruit available throughout the day in the lobby.
The staff were always polite and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

“Basic hotel but decent and affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My wife and I stayed here from 28-29 January while in town for the UFC on FOX. Although we checked in at around noon (which was nice of the hotel staff since we had a reservation for 3) we actually spent very little time at the hotel. First off: the hotel sign is pretty high up and the sign color almost matches the building color; this makes it hard to pick out while driving. There's a valet, which was 42 bucks for 24 hours with in/out privileges, and we took advantage of this. Millennium Garage is fairly close by but it's $29 for 24 hours and once you leave the garage you have to pay again. So take that into account when you make your decision.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating; absolutely no issues there. The room itself was clean, spacious for the price, and comfortable. The bed was a bit uncomfortable for my wife but we're used to a different mattress. And she's pregnant, so it's probably a bit unfair to blame the bed too much in this case. There's free wi-fi in the hotel and breakfast was included (served until 10am); the hotel also has a fitness room but we didn't make it there so I couldn't tell you how good or bad it is.

The hotel itself sits in the Theater District, which is apparently where people avoid having dinner or drinks past 9pm on a Saturday since 2 of the 3 restaurants we walked to were closed (we also noticed other restaurants with closing times of 9pm), so this is not a good place for nightlife. We did, however, walk a half a block or so to the Italian Village restaurant, which was very good (and open past 9pm). The 126 bus goes from Adams and State to Greektown (where we also went) and costs $2.25 and ~7 minutes of your time.

Overall, it's a nice, well-kept hotel in a neighborhood with little nightlife; close to bus and metro stops and parking. I would stay here again.

“Very Clean and Great Place To Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I just finished my stay at the Hampton Inn Majestic and I wanted to suggest it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Chicago. This was a very clean hotel and a great staff. For a downtown hotel the rooms were huge and had great beds. The location was great and had plenty to do around the area.

Room Tip: The higher number of the room the further you are from the elevator and vending.
