We loved our stay at the China Doll Guest House. There are several different properties that you can stay in during your trip to Chicago--we stayed in Country II. The country location (on North Burling St) was great for us...close to two major bus routes and just a few blocks away from the brown El line. It was in a really safe neighborhood with a great ambiance

Our apartment was stocked with tons of movies to watch in the event that we couldn't find something we liked on TV, and also had several Chicago tour guides and magazines which were useful in finding something to do when we ran out of ideas.

We stayed over New Years, and during our stay apparently some water leaked into the heating/cooling system in our apartment. This is not something that would have been a nuisance during our stay at all--read: not a big deal--but it did set off an alarm. Even though it was 9:00 am on New Years Day we were able to call our hostess who came over within ten minutes to shut off the alarm and clean up the water that had spilled. I found this to be such amazing service...sometimes you can't even see get ahold of maintenance in a hotel in this short amount of time.

I only wish we could have stayed a few more days, the apartment was so comfortable and cozy, and a lot more fun to come home to at the end of the night that a teeny hotel room.

It was great to stay at the China Doll Inn. It was in a perfect location, the beds were comfortable, and we had a ton of space. I loved the porch with the hammock and the ivy-coated building. They were also really helpful with parking. It made our trip to a Chicago a real pleasure.

Our stay in Chicago was outstanding thanks in large part to China Doll! The location is excellent - Just far enough from downtown so we could relax but close enough to hit all the sites. Everything worked at the apartment, and it was well maintained.

We stayed at China Doll Original II and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Everything was in great condition and the location worked well for us since we were visiting family in Lakeview. Being 3 blocks from the L was great too. We liked having the extra room, and used the beautiful deck to host a 4th of July get-together. Be advised though, that China Doll no longer stocks breakfast foods (mentioned on some other reviews) so you're on your own, which is no trouble since there are plenty of restaurants including a Dunkin Donuts around the corner. Check out the Firth and Pheasant for some awesome nachos.
