My wife and I traveled to Chicago for a week with our 15-month old daughter. We were so blessed to have found the China Doll House. We stayed in Original 2 and were thrilled with all the space. We wanted to have a separate bedroom for our daughter but did not expect to get an additional front living room as well. The kitchen worked great for us. We were able to make breakfast and dinner at home each day instead of eating out. It was so nice to have cabinets and drawers full of everything you would find in your own kitchen. We had zip lock sandwich bags and freezer bags right where we keep ours at home. There was even a vegetable peeler for our carrots and big pots and a colander for pasta. The bathroom was nice and big. There were piles of towels in our place and even more available near the washer and dryer downstairs. It was so nice to be free of the hotel feeling. There was no dancing around housekeeping or milling around with strangers for a continental breakfast. It was a comfortable, clean, private and quiet home away from home. My final note must be in recognition of the bathtub. It is a little more than twice the size of a normal tub with a showerhead on each end. It also has 6 spray nozzles on the walls and jacuzzi jets which we did not use. But we did use the tub at least once every day. Our little girl likes her evening bath but nothing compares to her excitement to jump into that huge tub. It was great. So was the rest of the place. I highly recommend the China Doll House to anyone looking for something more than just a hotel suite.

We were a group of 7 people plus one dog (a Boxer) who stayed in the China Doll Original II in August 2011. This place had exceeded our expectations in every aspect.

The location of the house was great. We were very close to Lincoln Park. A Pharmacy and grocery store were right around the corner. It is also close to nice restaurants as well. Downtown Chicago is just a short drive away.

The apartment was beautiful! The Kitchen was great, complete with high ceilings and a skylight. We were provided with coffee and a good selection of teas. Two bedrooms, one with a fireplace, and a walk-in closet which connected to the bathroom. The bathroom was amazing, complete with a very large bathtub/shower. We also had a balcony which had a hammock (a VERY relaxing one!), bbq, and patio table with chairs. We also had a desktop computer in our study and wifi for my brother's laptop.

The main reason why we chose this place was because it is dog friendly. My brother has a large dog that he wanted to bring along. This place is not just dog friendly, but they REALLY accommodate dogs. They had provided us with a clean dog pillow and kennel (which were waiting for us in the apartment already when we checked in). Although this place accepts pets, it is VERY clean. I did not experience any traces of pet hair or pet "smells" when we checked in.

The customer service for this place is amazing as well! Yanan and Samantha had taken great care of us there! When we come back to Chicago we will for sure come back to China Doll House.

We recently stayed at the China Doll Guest house in Lincoln Park. Upon a spur of the moment getaway, we had no luck at any downtown hotels and ended up here on a very last minute call with a cell phone that was nearly dead. It seemed like what was the hottest week of the year (temps reaching near 100+75% humidity) during our stay.

Pros:
-Excellent neighborhood; walking distance to bars/restaurants.
-Great size living space--kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms: very "homey" feel. Could easily sleep 6 (including futon/couch).
-Computer/internet access with printer and fax,
-Clean
-Plenty of parking options even on the street.

Cons:
-Window unit air conditioners on 1st floor: it just seemed to take forever to cool off.
-Furniture could use some updating. It had a bit of a "college" dorm feel.
-Livingroom couch not too comfortable to unwind on after a long day in the big city,

All in all, decent place. Felt a little like we were staying at a relative's house who was out of town (which isn't a bad thing) but we were looking for more of a mini-vacation/getaway. I guess that's what happens when you take the "spontanious" route!

Stayed at Country China Doll for two weeks. It is the best. Why would anyone stay in a hotel is beyond me. The location is awesome: near major chain stores and hundreds of independent business, clubs, restaurants, and shops, walk to the park, to the lake, to comedy clubs, to the L, to major bus lines. The street is beautiful and safe, lively at the same time that it's quiet. The house is lovely, the furnishings comfortable and attractive. They supply EVERYTHING you could need and more stuff than I have at home. We didn't need to buy anything, nor even bring anything besides clothes. Staff responds to everything right away. Best of all, they allow our dog. High, enthusiastic marks.
