The rooms were clean but the bedspread was not the prettiest. Just cosmetics though -- form follows function and this room functioned. I had room 701 and it was a good location --the window faced ohio street and there was just one room caddy corner to us noise level was very low -- even street noise. The bathoom was spick and span. Shiney tiles lined the shower wall and ceramic tile on the floor. Granite counter top/sink area.
Bed was very comfortable and had a thin blanket in betwen the sheets ('cause I kick the comforter off anywhere I go - too risky). The sheets were white and clean. The pillows (5 of them) were downy soft and fluffy!
I did not find the room to be too small.
The hall did smell of smoke... but I didn't spend much time there and it did not effect the room. I am very antismoke and if the roomed smelled it would have been a BIG problem. It did not.
Breakfast was included each morning (until 11am on weekends and 9:30 during the week). Cups, plates, bowls, and utensils were disposable. I would recommend bringing your coffee cup or glass from the room (near the ice bucket) down to breakfast to cut down on waste.
Items: Cereal, yogurt, bagels, croissants, muffins, english muffins, danishes, instant hot chocolate/oatmeal, waffle maker, hard boiled eggs, cranberry/apple/orange juices, milk, apples and bananas.
Carl the doorman was the go-to man for directions. Checkin and out was easy. They even held our bags so we didn't have to check in early and pay a fee. Equipped us with a map and recommended a few nearby sites and we were free to start our trip without lugging our bags with us.
Location was great -- literally just around the corner from the CTA. Gino's East and Portillo's Hotdogs are within a short walk. The Mag mile is also very close and easily accessible by walking.
Oh and complimentary internet access. I recommend it and will stay here again.
