“Got Screwed! Booked 10 months in advance & they cancelled my reserv. 4 days before my trip b/c of their own mistakes.”

I just received the worst customer service I can imagine with a hotel, and I am appalled that a hotel can get away with treating customers this way!! I booked this hotel 10 months before my work conference. This was necessary since the conference brings in 30,000 attendees and hotels book up quickly. I booked on Booking.com for $150, and I was thrilled because it is one block from the McCormick Place Convention Center and was much cheaper than the other hotels recommended by the conference organizers. To my dismay, the owner called me 4 days before the trip and told me they were overbooked and they would be moving me to a hotel 8 miles away in Lincoln Park. Since I booked 10 months beforehand, I questioned why I was the one getting bumped. The owner basically told me they made a mistake posting the price on Booking.com at $150 and it should have been $250. They were instead giving our rooms to European clients who were paying more and staying longer!! They backtracked and tried to claim these people also booked before me, but if they knew they were overbooked 10 months ago they would have called me 10 months ago. She told me she worked for days to try to find me a replacement hotel at the last minute, but then I never heard back from her with an alternate reservation. I had to scrounge around last minute to find a reasonably priced hotel last minute for a convention that had long since booked up all the nearby hotels. This is probably the most stressful and insulting hotel experience I have ever had.

Hello and what a terrible ordeal this must have been. I am sincerely sorry that you had to go through this. As of August of 2011 the hotel has undergone new ownership and management and although overbooking can at times happen (for any hotel), we go above and beyond to be sure that our guests have everything they need during their stay with us. I invite you to please contact me at the hotel 312.945.2020 to discuss this further. Your business is very important to us and I know that I can’t take back what happened, but I can make it a priority to see to it that you are happy. Thank you for your understanding.

“This hotel is one of my favorites”

The hotel is a beautiful Botique hotel located walking distance to McCormick place, Museums, Michigan Avenue shopping and across from lake Michigan. The room and spa bathroom was appointed perfect for a romantic getaway or my business meeting at McCormick Place. What really impressed me was the employees who really went out of their way to book my dinner reservations or do anything to make my stay hassle free. The beds are fantastic.....I felt like I was staying in private estate owned by Ralph Lauren.

“elegant, charming, just the escape I/we needed”

As a fitness professionals/enthusiasts, sometimes we simply need peace & quiet coupled with elegance and pampering. We didn't want the huge hotel atmosphere because we much prefer a smaller scale establishment that caters to our individual needs. That's just what the Wheeler provided. It is ideally located near McCormick place which made our commute to the show/conference a stone's throw away...can't beat that! Breakfast was delicious and it reminded me of my trips to Europe. I've referred my friends to the Wheeler and I will not hesitate to stay here again the next time I am in town.

“My 2nd White Christmas at the Mansion!”

The Wheeler Mansion was recommended to me 2 years ago by a friend, both of us like the cozy places, maximum 10 rooms, we like the special attention by the host.

During the holidays we like also the inside decorations and all the rest.

We did like also the welcome champagne glass too.

We were not the only pleased guests, in the dinning room we talked to other happy guest. WE WILL RETURN to the MANSION!
