Stayed at the hostel for a weekend..A bit away from everything but easy enough to get to the main things (5-10 minute drive or 20-30 minute walk). The staff were very friendly and helpful and explain the busroutes to take you wherever you needed. Also, instead of making me move when my cousin left (I stayed an extra day by myself) they let me stay in the room I checked into since it wasn't booked. The breakfast was plain but suited to the cost of the hostel and I met some other hostellers there.
The room had the bare essentials...literally but when you are there really just for sleeping and getting ready to go out, it doesn't matter.
The only disappointment were the lukewarm showers and there not being a mirror in the room to get ready.
There is a really nice coffee place beside the hostel as well.

Good location in Greektown, close to a subway station (UIC Halsted on a blue line, four stations to Chicago downtown) and 15-20 minutes walk from The Loop. The breakfast did not satisfy me (only toasts, butter, jam, cereals, fruit and coffee/juice; no cheese, ham or anything else).

I was travelling with 5 friends and we received a private room for 6 people, bathroom is common for the whole floor. We received towels for free but we were told that if we were in a common room, we would have got them for 2 bucks each.

If you are looking for something cheap to stay close to Chicago downtown, it is a good choice, especially for young travellers.

i spent 5 nights at AAE parthenon hostel with my boyfriend and my stay there were very good. the private room was small with two twin beds but it was clean and enough for us. the frontdesk staff are helpful. i didn't have enough cash at the first night when i checked in but they let me pay that money on the next day. the best thing that i liked it here is that the cleaness of the bathroom. Sharing a bathroom in a hostel is quit inconvience but i didn't feel that way when i were here, it was cozy, dry and clean all the time. And the location is great, 20 minutes walk from the highight of the city and it is just very very near from the Station. i would come back to stay here again if i have chance to visit Chicago. Love this city.
