“Hotel rating??”

I'm amazed by the ratings given for this hotel because it was not a pleasant experience. I was unaccustomed to the non-personal kiosk-style check in... but that was only a sign that things were only going to get worse.
It was noisy...although it did settle down after the police were summoned.
The bed was somewhat comfortable but the bed coverings furnished hardly seemed sanitary (just a slippery poly bedspread and top sheet)... and no, I am not a clean freak.
Furnishings were cheap although they were functional...kind of reminiscent of cheap office furniture rather than hotel furnishings.
One towel per person...which works for a guy, but where can I find a woman that uses one towel?
Only customer service requiring any interaction with the staff was parking validation...and they managed to screw that up.

Room Tip: Take along ear-plugs and a blanket from home. The only bed covering was a thin top sheet covered by...

“Nice Boutique Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

This is a nice Boutique Hotel with a good location in the Financial District. Just a few blocks from Union Station and the Sears / Willis Tower. Booked this hotel through Priceline and got an OK deal. I've had better deals in the past, but with priceline, it all depends on general availability during your desired stay. This was early December, on a Saturday night, so who knows... Again, have had better deals, but this was OK. Either way, I would not have any hesitation regarding this hotel and would stay here again.

The rooms were set up for couples or business people w/ one queen bed. Also had a desk, chair and flat screen TV. The room was clean and very comfortable and will meet the needs of most "non-family" travelers.

The rooms are on the smaller side, however, but are nicely decorated. You would not want to try to "squeeze in" kids in any way. The bathroom is smaller too, with a stand-up shower (no tub) and a single sink.

There is a restaurant on site which is connected, but not associated with the hotel. The restaurant is part of the Elephant & Castle chain. Good selection of pub type food and beer.

Parking is $35 for valet with in/out privileges, however it takes about 15-20 mins. for them to get your car pulled around. There is public parking decks w/i 2 blocks that charge $25 for 24 hours. I think the hotel valet uses one of these lots as their "base" which would explain why it takes them some time to get your car.

The check-in/check-out process was easy using their automated kiosks in the lobby.

“Great staff - good location - bad experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

This hotel is in a very good location and close to several sites; Art Institute, Millennium Park. We took transit everywhere and the underground and the 'L' are a block away. The amenities are very good: gym, free WIFI in the room.

The rooms are very small and we were "upgraded" to a Corporate Suite - with kitchenette, eating area, double bed and sleeper sofa. It was still very small for what we paid, but comparable to other downtown hotels in other big cities. We rearranged the furniture to try and get more space, but everything in the room was positioned badly - from the wardrobe that blocked the hallway to the sleeper sofa that could not be folded out all the way because of the wardrobe!

Yes, the hotel lobby is nice but that's not where I sleep. We stayed 6 nights here. Our 6th floor room was dark and dingy and although we had had originally paid for a room with a kitchenette, we had to call the Front Desk two times to get all the supplies we needed (forks, knives, a pot, etc). The fridge also stopped working and we had to call to have that fixed the first night. But it stopped working every night so my husband had to unplug it and plug it back in each time. Also, we didn't sleep for 4 out of 6 nights because of the deafening noise at 3am and 4am every morning from the alleyway.

Anything we needed, the staff brought, but it took 1-2 hours. The floor staff are wonderful and were so nice and greeted me in the hallway and whatever I needed, they found for me (a vase, an empty box...).But, the maid service was very inconsistent. I don't think they even vacuumed the room.

I would not go back to this hotel or recommend it.

P.S. Don't even bother to go to the onsite restaurant. It's filthy and the food is terrible.

“Good value for location”

Booked this to be in the Loop close to the Art Institute, Architecture Tours, Millenium Park, and still a walk away from River North restaurants. Convenience is rhe point. Otherwise a business spartan style, beds a tad too well worn. For a few nights stay you don't need a car though.

“Nice room, great service, incredible price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

I recently stayed at the Central Loop hotel for a conference in Chicago and though my fellow attendees ayed 2-3 times what I did, my hotel had better amenities(free wireless internet, gym) and service than theirs. The location was very convenient, the staff friendly and the room clean and very well maintained. One of the best hotel experiences I have had in recent years,
