Although it's a chain, this hotel acts a bit more like a boutique hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was nicely decorated and rather large, and the bed was dreamily comfortable. (5 stars for the bed!) There were a few glitches in my experience, some more important than others, depending on one's needs. If you need high speed internet, find another hotel. The WiFi here was maddeningly slow for the entire 2 1/2 weeks I stayed. Had I not prepaid at a great rate, I would have checked out and gone elsewhere simply for that. I ended up using my 4G phone as my personal WiFi hotspot to get anything done. Don't expect to have the bandwidth to Skype even voice conversations. Although I had excellent signal from two of the hotel's WiFi nodes, the service was abysmal. As mentioned elsewhere here, the showers are poorly designed and you inevitably end up with minor floods on the bathroom floor. The heating worked well, but the thermostat would not actually maintain a temperature. No matter how you set it, the thing would run constantly until the place got too hot. The, the only solution was to turn it off for a while. I like sleeping in a cool room, so turning it off just before bed worked out well for me. The "daily newspaper" is only available in the lobby, and only Mon-Fri (USA Today.) They always seemed to have a good supply, though, since there were still papers available when I returned after 5 pm. But there is nothing on weekends....so "daily" is a bit of a misnomer. Looked at the menu for the hotel restaurant...YIKES! Prices are outrageous. Obviously an upscale establishment. But, the location is within blocks of several colleges and universities, so there are plenty of places in short walking distance to eat at much better prices than the hotel venue.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Wyndham Blake Chicago. Your feedback is important to us in order to ensure that we maintain high quality service and accommodations for our guests. We apologize that our WiFi was not working properly at the time of your stay. We are currently working on our bandwidth to accommodate our guests. You are correct about that our building is made up of several different buildings beginning with the historic Morton Building, so there are two levels on a couple of the floors. We do try to meet the needs of our travelers and we hope to do so on your next visit. We look forward to your return to the Wyndham Blake Chicago and hope you'll consider giving us another chance to show you the best we have to offer.
